2006 HS Softball State Playoffs 1st Round

    delay with brackets

    I cannot understand why the state is dragging their feet on playoff brackets. It is posted on the state website that they will release the wild cards and the brackets on Tuesday, May 16. They seem to be able to get the other playoff brackets done over the weekend and since wild cards are based on regular season record, I cannnot understand the hold up!

    Greater Neuse 7 Results

    Clayton and West fought it out on Tuesday(5/9) for the conference championship. WJHS beat Clayton in 8 inning in a 1-0 game. Sara Jackson and Amanda pitched great games. No errors & no walks .

    Jackson Stats: 4 hits and 7 K's
    Davenport Stats: 2 hits and 9 K's.

    We are Co-Champs again this year and WJHS was top seed for conference tournament. Wjhs played Garner on Sat. am and won 3-2. Winning pitcher was Davenport.

    Championship Game went 18 innings with Clayton winning 4-3 on an error to determine top seed for playoffs. Amanda pitched the first 12 inning and was relieved by Kelesy Eddering who pitched the last 6 innings. Jackson pitched 14 inning before being relieved. Ball game tied 3-3 until bottom of the 18 and we had a fielding error. Congradulations to Clayton on their win and what a game!!

    The best we can determine from the 4A brackets, WJHS plays @ Wake Forest-Rollsville this week-TBA
