    Walk-off HR by Morehead City...

Morehead stays alive with a 8-7 win. Garner is eliminated.

Area 1 is now out of the Tourney. :banginghe

Good luck to all still playin... I guess the Garner-Caldwell rematch will have to wait until next summer.

Lonnie Chisenhall hit the walk-off. It was his third of the day and he was also the winning pitcher.

    Garner/Caldwell 2004.

This is in response to a claim of Sour Grapes about the 2004 State Legion Championship held in Shelby involving Caldwell County Post 29 and the Garner Post. I can’t remember the name of the player in question. But, here goes on what did happen that summer. The “Player”( A Pitcher) didn’t play for the closest North Carolina squad to his parent’s home after his Senior Year of High School. He instead transferred to a Team in South Carolina. This move was approved by both State Commissioners. Thus, “The Player” should have played out his Legion Baseball Career in South Carolina. But, while attending college the next summer, “The Player” hooked up with the Garner squad to play Legion Baseball. So, Garner reaches the State tourney in Shelby, loses the Championship Game to Caldwell and then wins the Consolation game for the State Title. This is what really makes the situation bad, Several Legion Officials and the Tournament Host AD knew, about the situation, the whole time. They chose for one reason or another to not say anything about the illegal player. Then, later on in the year, the violation was discovered and Garner was stripped of the State Title. Another scary situation is the fact that the NC State Legion Officials wanted to make Caldwell out to be the “Bad Guys” after the violation came to light. The Caldwell AD was put on Probation for a year for not getting permission from the NC Legion Officials, before calling the SC State Commissioner, to confirm the allegations, during the investigation of the illegal player. But that’s a crock because the AD didn’t call the SC Commissioner, I DID! They got caught, they got busted, and just like the criminals I put in jail everyday, they should have been banned from Legion Baseball for Life.
