    do they ban teams for life? that seems rather harsh.

    True. The state commissioner knew about it and because of this, Garner figured they were in the clear. It was only after Garner beat Caldwell that the state commisioner (hmm, a Caldwell guy) went back on his word and stripped Garner of their title.

    Garner did what they were supposed to do -- went to the legion official's first to get the player eligible. Then after the season, they get penalized? I guess that's how it works.

    But to say that Garner should be banned for life from Legion ball is absolutely insane. If you are told that you are allowed to do something, wouldn't you do it?

    This is the wrong can of worms to open, especially in the 2006 State Tourney thread. There's been a thread about this before and it went nowhere but downhill because of all the uninformed folks posting in it. We don't need that to happen again. It's over, it's been dealt with, the team gave up their title (but not their championship patches on their jersey), so why even bother disussing it? Only thing left to discuss is the question whether or not the State Commisioner is fit for this job.

    I'm fixin to head out for awhile. A fella that is at the game with internet connection is posting updates on the ncpreps message board if ya'll want to check updates.

    i take it the ktown/caldwell game will begin around 9pm. anybody got an idea?

    High Point can always say they were not the first team eliminated from the State...so there goes the theory they should have been good sports and dropped out...
