2006 NCHSAA 4A Sectional Brackets

    The NCHSAA will announce the sectional brackets for the 2006 Basketball Championships sometime between 12 noon and 2 pm today. I'll have those brackets available on here as soon as they are released.

    12 noon and 2 pm?? Yeah right! Never trust the NCHSAA when it comes to deadlines!

    The NCHSAA just posted a disclaimer on their site saying it will be late afternoon before all the finalized. Womens brackets will be prepared first.

    Here are the 1st round matchups scheduled for Monday, 7 pm.

    Sections 1 and 2

    North Davidson @ High Point Central
    Central Cabarrus @ Northwest Guilford
    Greensboro Page @ (Charlotte) Vance
    East Burke @ West Charlotte

    Sections 3 and 4

    JM Robinson @ East Meck
    Hopewell @ McDowell
    Freedom @ Butler
    Crest @ AC Reynolds


    First off to share a few thoughts...the NCHSAA did not assign the Wild Cards as they stated they would on the website. I think its unfair on their part to state one thing and do another. Second, I wonder what's up with the Wild Card team not listed in Section 2? And finally, the fashion in which East Burke dosne't make the playoffs will lead to modification of this playoff selection process if infact the NCHSAA decides to stay with it. That is of course if East Burke is not the Wild Card team that's play at West Charlotte on Monday.

    My thoughts on the actual matchups will come later.

    East Burke has the last wild card spot. They will play at West Charlotte Monday night. Good luck to all the NW4-A teams!

    Hopewell beat South Caldwell during a Christmas tournament. Does any South fans recall this game or how the teams played. Could be an interesting matchup for MHS.

    Sectional #1

    High Point Central @ West Charlotte (Friday 7 pm)


    Sectional #2

    Greensboro Page @ Northwest Guilford (Friday 7 pm)


    Sectional #3

    South Caldwell vs South Mecklenburg (at East Burke) Saturday 6pm


    Sectional #4

    AC Reynolds vs Harding Univ. (at Butler) Saturday 6 pm


    The winners of these game will advance to the West Regionals in Winston-Salem next week. Good luck to all...
