That's impossible. The NCHSAA will only allow teams to play four games in one week and 24 for the regular season. In either way, (winners' or losers' brackets) by your account, teams would play more than the allotted four games in a given week. Also, if they were on the losers' side, they would play so many games that they wouldn't be able to finish the season.

I believe The Catawba Valley Classic is a "placement"-style format in that teams get 3 games apiece regardless of wins & losses. There's no way it's double elimination. In reality, if you lose a game, you're eliminated from championship contention.

    It breaks down like this:

    Win, Win, Win : Champion
    Win, Win, Loss : Runner-Up
Win, Loss, Win : 3rd Place
Win, Loss, Loss : 4th Place
Loss, Win, Win : 5th Place
Loss, Win, Loss : 6th Place
Loss, Loss, Win : 7th Place
    Loss, Loss, Loss: 8th Place

    Nope...

If you lose your first and 2nd game you are done.

ETA: It may not be "double elimination" but there is no 7th place game.

2 teams are eliminated after the 2nd day.

for the girls it was Maiden and FTF (IIRC)

That makes absolutely no sense, whatsoever. Geez, just pair the two teams to play against each other just so they can get valuable game time & experience. Even that, it makes that tournament much more money.
