    I 'll give my take:

Watauga- They'll be very good. Coach Pete Hardee is a great coach and his son Dalton is a player. Not sure if younger bro Cal will play Varsity. Ammon is a good pitcher and Brightenstien is a load. Minford is streaky effective. Coach Hardee will have them ready to play.

Alexander Central- Dustin Harrington, D-1 Signee and one of the best players in the state. Harrington is a Derek Jeter type player that makes the rest of his team better. Plus he can pitch in the 90's. Justin James and Daniel Hall are good hitters. Harrington and James were members of the Heat this summer and Hall is playing with the Fall Heat. Cameron Kerly is also back. The Cougars will be good.

    East Burke-
    * Corey Rhoney was awesome on the showcase circuit this summer with the Charlotte Heat. Kid will be a blue chipper by his Senior year( if not sooner). Awesome pitcher, Tremendous centerfielder, can play middle infield as well. Great speed and a clutch hitter to boot. And he's only a Sophomore. Missed most of the Cavs fall league games due to Heat 17U commitments.
    * Ryan Anderson-Excellent left-handed pitcher who missed last season for personal reasons so is somewhat under the radar. Had a good summer with the Burke Legion team. Catawba Valley Storm alum that played with Patrick Johnson, Dustin Harrington, Derik Boliek, Greg Baker, et al.
    * Eric Chiz- another sleeper who has a great work ethic. Surprise with the Burke Legion when pressed into pitching duty. Gritty player in the David Eckstien mold.
Not sure about rest of the team but Chris Cozort is a good baseball guy and PD Fowler is a great hitting coach. They will battle.

    McDowell-
    * Jeremy Freeman and Larry Dixon both very good players and good lefthanded pitching. Chris Vaughn is a dangerous hitter. Audie Bartlett is a fiesty competitor. Flea Blake will have the Titans ready.

No disrepect to any players I left out. These are just the ones I know.

i thought that Cam Kerley was a senior last year?
i know a few kids that played legion with him this summer and said that he was a senior...i could be mistaken though.

Well, me being from Watauga..i know a few kids names, so I'll throw them all out there..

    Lee Ammann-P
    Dalton Hardee-SS
    Rich Minford-P
    Tanner Martin-OF
    Caleb Martin-C, OF
    Chaz Quinn-3B
    Michael Butler-OF
    Ethan Moyer-3B, 2B, SS, P
    Eric Breitenstein-OF
    Trey Dunnigan-1B, P
    Daniel Baker-1B

those are the only for sure players of varsity this year...the last two helpd out the JV level last year tremendously

i didnt really get to attend many JV games last year, but those are the few i know.

What are your perspectives on those players?

You are probably right. I thought Kerley was coming back but entirely possible he graduated.

Forgot about the Martin Brothers. Both are very good. Seen them play through the years.

Not sure about the remaining players on your list but one thing is for sure. Coach Hardee will work the team and have them ready to go.

    My BAD!

In my brief discussion detailing East Burke in POST #12, I incorrectly wrote the name Ryan Anderson. Anderson was a lefty that played for Watauga a few years back and moved to Florida.
I meant to say Josh McDaniel, the oustanding lefthander and former CV Storm Alum. (Anderson was also a Storm Alumnus)
Sorry for the mistake. As I get older, I'm just not as sharp as normal.
    My humble apology.

    Thanks Tigermom

Thanks Tigermom for your support, Yes Madison did wreck his brother's 4 wheeler after the first football game. He WAS NOT HURT. he is also not having any kind of surgery (as posted on another site) Madison is fine, working very hard on his off season workouts preparing to be at his very best in the spring. I am sorry if I burst any bubbles about his health but he is in better shape than ever before.

    Don't forget Pete Hardee

Remember that Pete Hardee is a great coach, and I really believe that he can score a couple of runs if the team stays home.

Watauga is putting in a heck of a lot of effort in conditioning and improving skills. Right now Coach Hardee is helping out with football but Coach Trumbower is doing a real good job in his place till he gets back.Being a Watauga player i expect a great season this year and team unity has already improved from what it was last year.

Hopefully, after a rigorous offseason and an intense preseason...maybe Watauga will come out and upset some teams.
Hopefully, all of there hardwork will pay off..

    Dalton Hardee
    Ethan Moyer
    Lee Ammann
    Eric Breitenstein
    Tyler Moore
    Martin Twins..

look out for some of the above..moyer and bstein both all conf selections last year..

maybe our Pioneers will go out and prove some people wrong this year..
