Some coaches may not agree with having a conf. tourney. I personally don't, but I wouldn't want the extra week off before playoffs. IF everyone got rid of their conference tourney I would say add two more games to your games limit during the season, or start the playoffs a week earlier or the season a week later..

Each conference must pay a fee to the state, our (NW4A) uses the conference tourneys to pay for that fee and they also divide up the remianing profits to all the schools.(Not a lot of money)

However, if the tourneys are done right it can be a "neat" experience. Some teams never make the playoffs, so playing in the tournament and possibly winning 3 games and making it into the state playoffs is kind of exciting.
Our final two rounds are at Alexander, nice facility, but some teams don't make it there. This year East Burke played McDowell and then South Caldwell played us on our field in the first round. That was different and "neat" for the kids.

Anyway- some changes need to be made, but don't just get rid of the tourneys.. Make them better!

agree Coach, wonderful for the players and the Game!
tourneys are great and should be for a playoff berth throughout the state if the tournament is played. if they choose not to play one, with Advanced notice(min. one year), games can and are scheduled to fill this void(max. games). many teams in this area experienced this and dealt wonderfully with it!!

    "Make them better"......

    You are!

#4 Garner is on a roll in the 4A East. Won two on the road over Apex and #1 Seeded Ashley.

I would never be in favor of not having a conf. tournment. The more games these kids get in per year, the better ball players they will become
I noticed that in the Memphis area, this past week there were numerous teams that had already played 39 games, and remember, that dosen't count the extra games played in a tournment, (only 3 games are charged per tournment) so it is quite possible that some of these teams are approaching the 50 game mark.

On a side note, that relates directly to the number games played in NC, I noticed that of the fifty seven players that have been chosen to try out for the National Team, of that number, 25 are from the state of Cal. there is a reason for that.......

Updated Reason for NPC Tournament Cancellation

The latest data I have been able to gather:

NPC will have 10 conference teams next year making them the 2nd largest conference in the state of NC, and the largest conference in this area. With the amount of games, and the report deadline for state playoffs so crunched, there is just not enough room to fit in a conference tournament in softball or baseball. A suggestion about lowering the number of conference tournament participants was proposed, but rejected.

So does this mean that the NPC Tournament will be cancelled indefinitely?:32:

C Davidsons toughest game vs E Davidson

If central gets by east tonight they will have a cakewalk to the 2a title. Nobody else has seen them....east has already seen leonard 3 times. East does have some power hitters who have been hot lately.:detective:
