Hopewell, Providence, etc would all play each other pretty quick. Of course N Davidson, West Forsyth would be in mix as well. More people would attend and you would have much larger gate receipts! Why I agree there are some good fourth place finishers, U have to draw the line some where and take out politics by allowing performance to be the decider of who makes the playoffs. How about pitchers? Some HS teams only have one, others have three. More games can actually hurt quality teams with one pitcher.

In ASA Nationals, U must qualify by being top one or two teams in qualifiying tournaments, same here, top two teams in each conference make automatic, and tournament winner if different from the regular season qualifies! How much more fair could it be.

Last thought, how many third and fourth place teams have made the final four in Raleigh over the years? Just curious, could be large number but usually the best regular season performers will rise to top in playoffs as well unless injuries or just a hot pitcher changes a teams approach.

    Let me make this simpler:

    1) Everyone knows how to qualify and what number of qualifiers each conference has for the state playoffs before they throw one pitch. Complaining now is just sour grapes. Start talking to the NCHSAA about a better way now rather than after you didnt get what you want or weak teams are let in.I dont care about anybody feeling good its about the format being there for everyone to see before the season started. Dont pick on specific teams because they made it in under the format in place.
    2) One post was basically saying here are the 8 teams in the state we know can make it to the finals so lets just do away with all the hard work and sweat every other team puts in even though they dream they might make it. A lesser team doesnt have to make it to Walnut Creek they just need to knock off one of these teams to make it the highlight of their season.
    3) I agree that some of the teams in are not the strongest, but the point is the "rules is the rules" so become active in trying to change them or quit complaining
    4) Another post on pitching sounds like the following: "Gee, we only have one awesome pitcher and having to play all these games against these less than worthy teams might tire her out by the final" Tough luck because thats why this is a team sport not an individual one.
    5) I'm not talking about developing pitchers I'm saying if you have a stud #1 and a pretty good #2 your not helping the team by not using both in the regular season to prepare for the playoffs.

    Clearer for you?
