    Triangle Area Scores

    GIRLS
CAP SEVEN: Wakefield jumped to an early lead and then coasted to a 72-42 victory over Wake Forest-Rolesville.
"It was very balanced," said Wolverines coach Danielle Blackburn, who noted that she had four players score at least 12 points. "We started off really well and had a good defensive game."
Amelia Partin led the Wolverines with 17 points, followed by Kristen Hanzer (15), Kaila'Shea Menendez (14) and Kelsey Evans (12).
In Friday's conference championship, undefeated Wakefield will meet Millbrook, which bested Broughton.
That could be an interesting game because Millbrook stuck with Wakefield in both contests this season, most recently falling 50-41 on Jan. 29.

PIEDMONT 4-A: Durham Jordan handed Southern Durham a 60-48 loss.
After matching the Spartans 10-10 in the first quarter, the Falcons outscored their opponents in each of the final three quarters.
Senior point guard Danielle Deberry scored 21 points and added eight rebounds, five assists and five steals. Sophomore Kristen Lyon had 15 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and five steals.
Jordan will meet undefeated Hillside for the conference crown. Hillside handled Riverside 83-54.

TRI-EIGHT: Apex defeated Middle Creek 51-36 as three Cougars scored in double digits. Charli Leto led all scoring with 15 points. Kimberlee Durham scored 13 and Bethany Collins added 10.

Don't know what the score was, but McDowell girls won. I'm sure that we'll get the score later.

Great Game. Ali Ford hits a 3 to tie with about 24 seconds to go then Washington drives to the basket to take the lead with 6.5 to go. Ali Ford goes coast to coast with 6.5 seconds left but misses the layup. Game Over.
    Washington-25 pts.
    A.WARD-14 PTS.
    Hamilton-10pts.

    Ford-18 pts.
C.Connelly also had a big game for Freedom.

Great game, but make sure everyone knows that is wasn't a wide open lay up and there was a very good possibility of a foul sending her stumbling, but no one is blaming, just want to make sure it's not bash Ali for missing a layup uncontested.. Very fun atmosphere-- thanks to the AC fans for helping out a little with the cheering.

Good luck to all in the playoffs!

Very true. It wasn't a wide open layup,a couple of Titan players had got back and were under the basket with their arms up when Ali tried to force the shot up. I guess the referees decided they wouldn't determine the outcome of the game with a questionable whistle. As we discussed after the game Ali could have pulled up and tried to hit a short jumper but I think she was banking on drawing the foul.

It was good to see a full house tonight at Freedom. If that many people show up for the regionals there will not be enough seating for everyone.
