Thad, I'm with you...I would take those five to battle with Hickory in a heartbeat. Hickory has played a very weak non-conference which IMO does not prepare them for the playoffs. As recent as just a couple years ago they played East Burke non-conference and going back farther they used to play Freedom. Not anymore...

Thad,I watched Hickory play in the scrimmage game at Freedom this year and they were a good team but not a great team. I believe McDowell pulled out to an 11 point lead before Coach Franklin put in the subs and left them in the rest of the game and Hickory still just beat us by 10. I know that was just a scrimmage game but still Hickory didn't impress me that much. Their schedule has been very weak. When a team has to play games like the McDowell-Freedom match ups were this year that is what prepares you for the playoffs. In my opinion the all-star team shown above would beat Hickory by 20 points or more.

You are right Dan, the second round matchup between McDowell and Page should be a very good game. 4 of the 5 losses that Page has came against Grimsley. The last loss coming in the Metro Title game against Grimsley 61-53. Im glad we are playing them at our place.

thank you to all the folks that have put all this wonderful information at my fingertips all year. it is greatly appreciated. i hope this can continue when realignment takes place in the fall of 2009. that conference with whs, alexander, south caldwell, hickory, fred t. foard, st. stephens and hibriten should be pretty exciting to follow. also, when will the class 1a brackets for the boys and girls be posted on this sight. the nchsaa sight won't open on my computor. i'll check back later, and thanks again for all you do.

Did North Forsyth and Watauga forfit?? I think they still have to play those games. NEVER look ahead, it will bite you in the rear at the least expected time. I really hope, for McDowell's sake, that you don't have some crow to eat Tuesday morning.
