Truth is they should be stronger this year, however, the conference is stronger this year, also. East Davidson and Ledford will be a tough test for the Spartans and West Davidson will be improved.

She had a strained tendon in her hand and it has healed nicely. She is pitching again and went thru a strength program. Believe this or not, she will hit 70 mph this year.

Chelsey is definiately one of the top pitchers in the state, but telling me she can throw harder than Jen Finch, Monica Abbott, & Cat Osterman, Don't think so.

I know, hard to believe. She was clocked repeatedly in games last year on several guns and was hitting 67-68. With her work out program and another year of growth, 70 is reachable. Not to mention she is the hardest worker I have ever seen.

The word is Tim will not be coaching this spring.
He has talked about giving it up for the last few years.
I believe Jennifer will be taking his place.
Sarah is doing great-happier than she has ever been. She has given up on softball, but is continuing on with her education.

We hope things are going well for you.

I think they are referring to our conference championship. We have a split 2A/3A conference in Catawba County.

Foard
St. Stephens
Hickory
Maiden
Newton-Conover
Bunker Hill
Bandys
Hibriten
West Caldwell
and now Patton???
Sorry for the mix up. Maiden should also be strong again. Tai Lynn (Vikki's Dazzle)is moving up as a freshman and has lots of pop to her bat!

....well, I'll look forward to seeing her sling it 70 and better. I hope she does. As for last years clocked times, I myself saw Chelsea pitch and she never got over 65 clocked at the mound and around 62 at the plate. NO SLANDER, hell, thats great! She was awesome. No one could hit her. JMO When posts are made about one or another player hitting X or pitching speed Y or home to first speed Z, well, the post opens up the naysayers and puts a kid in an awkward position of having to live up to some public induced criteria. Thats not good. Most of the time 90% of what we hear about times or speed etc. are probably stretching the truth or timing device problems or how to use them or when or where to clock...and on and on...BUT there still exist 10% or so that can step up and actually throw X or run Y, I'd bet my last dollar Chelsea Leonard is in that 10%. And she can hit too!

Like all top notch pitchers, she relies heavily on breaking pitch combinations, which for her are in the low to mid 60's. Many innings may never see a fastball. The FB speeds stated by CDFAN are true. As for 70, time will tell. But even if she never attains it, it doesn't matter because with her control she doesn't need it.

.......and offspeed stuff is what TB teams saw early in Chelseas days. The Dmoinators, Blues, Curve, Rage, ETC. ( not intending to leave a good team out of this example ), but I remember this kid at 13-14ish perplexing kids at the plate with her command of the junk. Add to that, an awesome fastball, especially if it moves on its own, well.....HELLO! AND I"LL ADD THIS TO TBR.....
