Sorry...I forgot the All-Tournament info from yesterday

    MVP: Jaalen Corpening (McDowell)

    All-Tourney Team:

    Xandi Gellman (McDowell)
    Jewel Walker (Freedom)
    Chelsea Connelly (Freedom)
    Mariah Black (Concord)
    Paige Moore (East Burke)

Just a few comments on the Championship...I thought both teams played well. This tournament could be the stepping stone for each team's success during the second half of the season. Jewel Walker has emerged IMO into a strong 2nd primary option for the Lady Patriots. She has a pretty good inside-outside game. Freedom has the potential to do some things in the 3A bracket. They're going to dominate the South Mountain Athletic Conf. I would put them with Forestview and Harding as possible regional participants in March.

The biggest thing I got from McDowell last night was their ability to win and play well without having a big game from Ward...that goes to show just how deep this group is. When your first option off the bench can give you 15 points, that's a nice weapon to have. I was happy for Corpening that she won MVP, even though she didn't score in the finale...she still had a very good tournament especially on the defensive end. The game against Concord changed in favor of the Lady Titans due to her play late in the first half.
