Heard there were plenty of college coaches following you guys around. That's what it's all about. Great job all summer for a first year 16U team.

How was the horseback riding in the Rocky Mtns?
Ben
The coaches have been amazing over both days...Auburn, UNC, NC St, Louisville, Arizona, App St, Purdue, Alabama to name just a few. I can tell you Chelsea White (2011 East Rowan) who has been absolutely dominating has created quite a following!

As far as horseback riding goes a certain blond haired coach (initials MG) wound up in a tree sitting on her horse with the horse continuing to try to go through the tree. Very entertaining stuff!
congrats on the great day. On to more important stuff, did any one get a picture of you on the poor horse?

I was smart enough to sleep in and not permanently damage a horse for life!

A mixed bag in the last day of pool play. Its a roller coaster ride for sure this week!

Birmingham AL Vipers 11
Cardinals 2

Best team I've seen and schooled the young Cardinals. With 4 Auburn signees and 1 Miss St they just hit and hit and hit. Ashley Christy hit a homerun for the Cardinals.

Cardinals 2
Corona Angels CA 1

The Cardinals mastery of one of the best teams and programs in the country continues as great pitching from Caitlin Kurtz and Chelsea White coupled with outstanding defense shut down the powerful Angels. Ashley Christy made an espn catch in CF to save 2 runs and Elena Covert did the same with a runner on third in the 5th inning. Megan Martin had a great game at the plate. The Cardinals also beat them 1-0 at 14u ASA Nationals last year.

Bracket play starts at 9:45am Saturday after the Cardinals finished 4th in their pool of 8 by going 3-3.

Bracket play started today with single elimination and the Carolina Cardinals showed well:

Valley Breeze CA 4
Cardinals 11

Great hitting up and down the lineup with Jess Scott leading with 5 innings in the circle and hitting 2 dbls. Gaylin Bennet goes yard in this one!

LA Athletics CA 6
Cardinals 1

Strong pitching shuts the Cards down and the girls get knocked out in the 2nd round by one of the 6 #1 seeds.

What a week beginning with the 16u ASA State Championship and ending today. The girls played 21 games(yes 21 games!) in 7 days and left it all on the field. Lots of aches and pains but worth it all. Time for some rest and 16u ASA Nationals in South Dakota. Well done Cards!
