suggestion...

Since some of these teams are from parts of the state alot of us are unfamiliar with maybe the teams current records, conference affliation, and/or classification can be posted at the time of the weekly picks. Any other suggestions on how we can make it more interesting?

 

we've never posted all of that info before, and i dont know of any other board that does, but i do want to involve areas of the state where everybody is from. i hand pick the seemingly closest match-ups from the slate of games scheduled for any given week. at the beginning of the season, its only guesswork, there are no records or standings to go by. as the season progresses, it gets a little easier.

maybe you could begin by stating what part of the state you are from and we can go from there. most of these games are in the western and piedmont areas of the state, and that seems to be where the majority of the posters are located. that is kinda what i was going for in the beginning. i can add some games from down east each week, maybe splitting the state into thirds. i have no problem with trying to accomodate everyone, but sometimes thats easier said than done.

i'll try harder.

No complaints VI. I thank you for taking the time to do it each week. Just trying to think outside the box a little. I didn't really give it much thought that the data really might not be readily available in 1 spot for the teams since they are spread out. Maybe a viewer out there knows of a source we could get info from? Just a thought.

I live in Cabarrus County and with the demise of local paper sports sections my info. is limited to this neck of the woods.

I know these things are difficult to keep up with. It drove Smash insane sometimes. So a big thanks VI for doing this.

Congrats to Carolinapreps and Wise One for a great start. We now have to find a way to bring you guys down.

 

no problem big guy. there is an old saying that goes something like this, inovation is the mother of invention. and new ideas jostle us from our comfort zone. your addition as moderator seems to be a good choice, in my opinion.

we have alot more entrants in the contest this year. i do believe that some are from down east. i dont want to exclude them from having a fair representation in this thing. in the past we have had to pick games involving teams like Northside-Pinetown, Trask, Mattamuskeet, and Hobbton (forgive my spelling). i can see where they would feel the same about some of the mountain teams. we'll make every effort to even the playing field while seeking the biggest match-ups across the entire state.

thats kind of the beauty of the "contest". we're just a bunch of guys having fun. i think wossa has won a couple of these contests in the past.........

but look at him now.

i do have some ideas about how to gain info on every team in the state. i wont post a link, but masseyratings.com does a pretty good job of ranking teams, in many different sports, check that site out. drew pasteur(sp?) does some really good work over on ncpreps and our own chris hughes at carolina preps has begun a brand new website of his own....and he is pretty sharp too.

things are just getting started and the data will begin to compile at these sites, i love to research them.
