How about a round of applause for Region 5 going undefeated in the State Games and winning the Gold.
I didn't get to see one game, but one of my players came back beaming and smiling ear to ear and talking about the great experience she had on and off the field. Congrats Region 5! :trampoline:

    Region 5

"As far as the competition, the games were really great. Anyone who doesn't believe the competition was tough didn't play Region 5. I don't remember seeing better pitching. I don't know the pitchers' names but they were good."

Thanks for the compliments on the pitching for Region 5! The pitchers for were Tess Swing #5 (North Davidson, 2010), Taylor Hussey #11 (Randleman), and Hannah Alexander #12 (North Davidson, 2010). Tess and Hannah play travel ball for the Carolina Attitude - McDowell, and Taylor plays for the Carolina Attitude - Plemmons.

ThrowingHeat --- too bad you missed the games!! The girls looked great, especially considering they only get one practice together before the Games. Not only did the girls appear to be having a blast, the coaches did too!!! I'd say a great time was had by all.

Congrats to all players and coaches from all the Regions! It was fun to watch some of the players you only get to hear about.

    Truly Fun !!

The State Games was a fun experience for everybody, it appeared that everybody was having fun,and even the girls seemed more relaxed. My DD and myself met some great families, and some great players over the course of 3 days. It was kind of neat playing with different kids and watching them come together on the ball field as a team. Pop Rivers deserves an applause for all the work he put out over the week trying to forecast the weather and keep the games on time !! Sweet dreams Pop, take a breather see you next year !!:1zhelp:

A lot of great players, it was fun to watch. Who was the lead off for the west senior team in the first game?

That would be McDowell County (haha) legend, Kasey Pendley. Kasey played her high school career at McDowell High School in Marion, N.C., and is a member of the Foothills HEAT 18-U travel team. Kasey will be playing for the Lady Bulldogs of Wingate University, and should have a great career! Please see the thread above to learn more. I know she truly enjoyed the experience of the Senior event, playing with current travel teammate, Brittany Harrell, future Wingate teammate, Brittany Loudermilt, and all the other outstanding ladies from the Western half.

making a point without even knowing it!

... thank you PitZmom nad Throwheater! You just summed up in two posts how cool it is for the kids, win or lose, and the parents as well to experience the state games. 2 yrs ago some of the posts about the games cut like a knife. The next year some of the BS and TB/State games issues eased up a little bit but there were still the naysayers.
Reading ya'lls posts tell us at TBR that a great time was had by all.
    I'm cool with that!!!!!!
