Congrats to the Lady Bulldogs on winning the sectional...

    Clair Watkins 20 pts
    Celeste Stewart 16 pts

Xandi Gellman 14 points, Autumn Ward 12 points for the Lady Titans

McDowell came out very strong in the first six minutes of play taking a lead as high as 13-6. Butler quickly responded with a run to take a one point lead after eight minutes. Butler dominated the second quarter which set the tone the rest of the way.

It was a great effort by both squads...the difference in talent between the two teams took over after the first quarter. Again, congrats to Butler.

A big congrats to the Lady Titans on a very good season, winning the Northwestern 4A when very few gave us a chance at winning it. Marty stated it very well a couple weeks ago in his article...you can't help but like this group of kids. Big shoutout to the two seniors (Molly and Kristen) they did a great job this season. We got most everyone back next year...we'll be ready to the take the Mountain Athletic Conference by storm.

Freedom played an outstanding game against a very good East Meck team. I won't say the better team won as these two were very evenly matched. #44 for East Meck is a beast and had several minutes in the 3rd quarter where she took over down low. Spencer also had a great 3rd and 4th quarters. Freeodm led by 6 at the half and 9 points was their biggest lead of the night.

I will say that it's amazing of the difference in the way teams act and class displayed. I won't put it like mountain teams and Charlotte teams, but their was not a lot of class shown by East Meck's coaches or players.

Oh well... Great season for the Lady Pats. 26-4!! Great job Coach Fox!!!! You did an outstanding job!!!!

Great job to all the players!

We loose a lot of wonderful seniors in Ali Ford, Jasmine Conley, Laura Chapman, Olivia Surratt, Saudia Johnson, and Shimika Burgess. The NW 4A is going to be missed. I just don't think the SMAC conference will be this special.

    Butler vs Mcdowell

I was a little worried at the beginning of this game, as Butler's first four shots were air balls. However, they got in the groove midway through the first quarter.

Butler gave one of their best efforts all year. Offensively, Butler had a very good night and everyone except Burdick (who was still ill) stayed out of foul trouble.

Watkins height was a major difference in this game. I don't know her stats but it seemed like she was close to a triple double with points, rebounds and blocked shots. I know she did not achieve it but it certainly seemed that way from the stands. Her outside shot was falling, causing McDowell to pop out on her and opening up the lane for others.

Butler's bench also gave a major spark with excellent shooting by Blanton from the arc and Barino from the paint. Again, there depth was a key, especially for the third game of the week.

One Bulldog caught an elbow in the face and was taken off in a stretcher after collapsing on the sideline but she will be okay.

I love traveling to Mcdowell. It is a wonderful older gym with lots of character and awesome fan support. We could certainly use more of both in Charlotte / Mecklenburg.

SC lost. All the nw4a teams are done now. Pretty good run for several of them though. I think we won 7 playoff games

The Score for the SC-MC game was 50-38. MC was fast and Athletic. Everyone be safe and good luck in your new conferences. SC got in a hole at the beginning because of the press and did not bounce back.

Great inagural season for the wildcats! They came up short against one of the best teams in the state, but had an awesome seasn. 24-5 Nothing to hang your head over, and set some lofty goals for the following teams at Draughn.
Seniors: Liz Ross, Brittany Yancey and Amber Crisp will be missed next year.
