    That score surprised me... Saint hits the ball very well... Enka must have a very good pitcher...

    Johnston carried a no hitter into the 7th inning, before finishing with a one hitter. She also struck out 9 and walked only one. She also added two hits on offense. Tori Sewell had a big triple in the right field corner to start Laney's 4 run rally in the 4th.

    Great Game

    Another great game to watch. St Stephens out hit Enka (6-4) but just couldn't get them home. Thats been our case this year for some reason. Both Pitchers pitched very well.

    To the St Stephens 3 seniors ( Julia Wakefield, Holly Jones, Tranea Jones) hold your heads high ya"ll had outstanding season. You can't do it all thats why they call it a Team. Now go have some fun in the Senior games and TB this summer. To all the Freshman, play alot of games this summer, work hard in the fall and winter and it will continue at St Stephens.

    Coach Monte Sherrill and his AC squad are truly an outstanding team. Great talent that is extremely well coached. Chelsea Wilkinson is an outstanding pitcher, and being only a sophomore, could rewrite all the record books for a NC high school pitcher.

    Saw the boxscore of the Hopewell/AC game in the Observer this morning (5/22) and noticed that what was listed was slightly incorrect. As most of you are aware, it is the responsibility of the home team to report this information for posting. I found it interesting that Hopewell's scorebook showed the official score as 11-1; the NCHSAA website shows the score 11-1, but the boxscore in Observer shows the final tally as 12-1.

    Also, the boxscore listed the leading hitters for both teams. Interesting that both teams had a player hit over the fence homeruns, yet the only one listed in the boxscore was the homerun hit by Elder for AC. The listing for Bre Blakely of Hopewell only showed that she was 1 for 3 with an RBI. No mention of the homerun. Guess Coach Sherrill didn't want anyone to know that his pitcher was taken yard.

    Just wanted to give Bre Blakely (SO.) of Hopewell her props for hitting the homerun. Bre is a member of Bobbie Shoemakers Denver Dazzle squad.

    Good Luck to AC the rest of the way. Should be seeing them in Raleigh to defend their 4A championship again this year.

    Franklin-3 Patton-2 in 9 innings and will travel to play rubber match with Enka next Tuesday. These two teams split during regular season non conf games...
