Good close game all the way. MHS was up 2 at the half.

These 2 teams should not have been matched up in the 1st round. But until the NCHSAA comes up with a different seeding format this will continue to happen. Both of these teams have been ranked in the top 5 all year in the state and they meet in the 1st round. Go figure!

    Watauga Comeback Round #1

Watauga was down 29-14 end of 1st quarter to Greensboro Page, 40-28 at half, and won 64-62. Team is getting closer to understanding difference between team ball and me ball. Refs were the best Watauga has seen all year. Let the teams play, kept the game under control, and, here's a first this year, explained calls without being defensive if kids asked. Great game decided by the teams. Host Garinger or AC Reynolds Wed. night.

Well as I made mention of in the NW4A/3A conference thread. The guy running the clock and score at Hickory High school is absolutely awful. I gave him a break last Friday for blowing horn at wrong time for a 5th foul when Hibriten got the ball and last night he did the exact same thing. Asheville had a player foul out and they didn't blow the horn until after Hickory shot the free throw and Asheville had brought the ball across half court. Hickory boys won handily, but they need to get another guy running the clock. That's pathetic.
