    Wayne County wins 11-7

    Rowan has already played Wilmington, so they would not match those two up again Monday.
    Wayne County wins today and they play Wilmington
    (Wayne County & Wilmington have not yet met in the tournament and Rowan & Cherryville have not yet met).
    That would be the scenario.
    Times:
    3 PM Cherryville vs Rowan County
    7 PM Wayne County vs Wilmington

    These times are on the 2011 NC American Legion State Championship website.

    I thought maybe the winner of the Cherryville/Wilmington game tonight would determine the times.
    The winner playing the later game etc.?

    Legion tournaments get kinda screwy in the late rounds (IMO), but you are correct.

    The only difference I would add, is in the past I have seen them give the winner of tonite's winners bracket finals between 2 unbeatens Cherryville/Wilmington, that winner would get the later game tomorrow, which would mean if Cherryville were to beat Wilmington, then you would flip your games above.

    Also about undefeated Cherryville, according to The Salisbury Post, Cherryville has been playing without one of their leading hitters, .370 Thomas Bess a UNC-Asheville basketball signee who has had hoops committments. Props to them.

    Got back from Morehead late yesterday.

    Not making excuses for Hickory, however they were a few players short.
    One of the starters for Hickory had to leave for Annapolis to start his service to our country. I'm proud of him and wish him the best.
    The other starter, who told the coach he would be there Friday, was a no show (because of football). He let his teammates down, causing a shuffling of the lineup that was less than effective.

    I was also wondering who picked the hotels and decided which team went to which hotel. The teams from the western areas were stuck at the Econolodge. Complete with what appeared to be a live in dope dealer and the worst continental breakfast outside of a third world country (donuts, english muffins and coffee). The breakfast of champions for sure if you are entered in the police softball game or a truck driving competition. One room smelled like a bait locker on a fishing boat, one leaked from the ceiling in the bathroom and none looked entirely clean. A taxi driver said that it was in the heart of the local prostitution district. Another local said that you go there as tourist and leave on probation. Great place, but to their credit the police only had to show up once, thank goodness it was only for assault.

    Hopefully who ever makes these decisions in the future will choose better hotels than this. The kids deserve it.
