Sanderson over SE Raleigh 7-1....not the best played game by the Spartans but a lot of boys got the chance to play.

Wakefield over Broughton 10-3
Millbrook over Knightdale 10-9

The rain this morning may make it difficult to get in the games scheduled for today.....just have to wait and see.

Broughton over Sanderson 10-1....Hats off to Broughton Sr. Brandon Saunders who was very solid on the mound today while throwing a complete game 3 hitter. He also put the game out of reach in the 6th with a grand slam (3-4 at the plate today). The only run for the Spartans was on a towering solo HR by Tee Porter in the top of the 6th.

Looks as though all Cap 8 games scheduled last night were washed out by the storm cell that settled over Wake County between 6-7pm.

Other games will be posted when known. The rain has not been very kind to many of the Wake County teams so far this spring. Last night was the 4th rainout so far for the Spartans.....my calendar is becoming a real mess....LOL

 

Results from 4/13:

Sanderson over Heritage 10-1.....Joel Haran (Jr.) went the distance for the Spartans giving up 1 unearned run.....1 hit, 1 BB, 10 K's.....He also went 3-4 at the plate with 2 triples. I give a tip of the hat to Heritage. They are a first year school fielding a varsity team composed of all sophomores and freshmen. They battled hard to the end....actually leading 1-0 after 4 innings. Those boys will be tough to beat in a couple of years as they mature.

Sanderson over Enloe 3-2.....Tom Priester took the mound for Sanderson and went 5.1 innings giving up 2 earned runs and 3 hits while not having his best stuff. Senior Trey Lassiter came in with runners on 1st and 2nd to shut down the Eagles in the 6th. He gave up a double with one down in the 7th but retired the next two batters to earn the save . Enloe is the hard luck team in the Cap 8 this season. They stand 0-8 but at least half of their games have been 1 run games or gone to the last inning or extra innings with a chance to win. You have to feel for those kids.
