I know this is early for 2011 kids, but just seeing the posts about 2010 kids made me wonder. I know a handful of D1 2011 prospects here in the east, but was just wondering everyone else's opinion.

    IMO

A few maybe starters on their HS varsity programs. I think it is way to early for most to be considered D-1 material. Ok they may have had a good couple of summer games. Still to early. HS changes many plyers. What was a weak player now has time to grow get stronger. Maybe that strong pitcher has reached his limit. Many reasons why but you asked

Jake Fincher of Butler HS here in Mecklenburg County. Shortstop with a great glove and hits the ball with power!

Peter Hendel of Weddington HS in Mecklenburg County. Left handed pitcher that throws strikes and has a better than good off speed pitch. Better than average hitter as well!

LJ Newman of Wren HS. Better than average catcher with a great arm who hits the ball hard with power.

Was just trying to get some feedback if anyone new more than the few I know. I know Adam Griffin at West Forsyth is a beast on the mound. Already sitting at 90mph on the fastball. He plays with the Dirtbags. DH Conley has 2 6'3" pitchers that are in the 2011 class. Jordan Deloatch is a lefty, and Ryan Gupton is a righty. Both sit right around 83-84, but Deloatch has the better secondary stuff. He is in Florida right now as well with Griffin on the Dirtbags. Rocky Mount has a pitcher in Benton Moss who is very good as well. And again, he is with the Dirtbags. And Landon Lassiter, also out of West Forsyth is a smooth fielding/smooth hitting shortstop, who is also in Florida this week at the WWBA. His brother is Garrison Lassiter who just signed with the Yankees after high school.

With so many guys signing now early in their Junior years, the Sophomore year is really important. That's why I was wondering if anyone had more information.

As I said. There are a few that will aways stand out.

The best 2011 pitcher is George Carter of the Dirtbags. He attends Grimsley High School. A couple of other good 2011 pitchers are Ryan Mayhew and Jason Creasy. They are both with the Dirtbags. Mayhew is consistently around 85-86. Creasy has great mechanics and touches 85 also.

    Gupton

Gupton plays with the Carolina Thunder during the fall. He pitched Saturday afternoon in Tarboro (Fall Brawl) against Proehlific Power, the team that Rose beat 3-2 in the championship. Gup pitched a complete game, allowing 3 runs on somewhere around 5 or 6 hits. I did not keep the books this game but I believe he only walked 1 and struck out 6 or 7. Of course the lefty from P Power struck out 14 of us but we still made a game of it and lost 3 - 2. Gupton was still bringing it in the 7th. He is starting to show more maturity on the mound. I'm working with him to be more aggresive (throwing inside) and as someone said recently he needs to be more of a bulldog on the mound. He will get there; I promise you. I thought my kid, Corey Bolam (2011 South Central), called a nice game behind the plate. His bat was asleep in game 2 until late but it woke up in a big way yesterday in Rocky Mount.

Everyone here has been mentioned (deservedly so) but many already know these kids. I got one you don't know.

Zack Hodges, Ragsdale HS. Plays Pitcher, SS, 3rd. Big kid, 6'3". Trained for years with Scott Bankhead. Hit 9 HR's as a freshman on JV last year. And get this, he doesn't play IMPACT.[IMG]

Another name no one has heard of

Scott Edge - played at Columbia High School last year. Was All-Conference but transferred to Lawrence Academy this year so that he could face better competition. 2011 kid who will not be 16 until Feb. 2009. 5' 11", 155 RHP; also catches and can play anywhere on the field. Recently clocked at 83/84 consistently but also hit 87 several times. Works extremely hard and has a frame he can grow into. Hard-nosed kid who plays well in big games. Came in during a recent 18U tournament championship game for the Thunder and pitched 4+ innings of scoreless relief. Games was 4 to 4 at the time. Bit of a streaky hitter but has surprising power for his size. Will be fun to watch this kid develop.

Here are a few more....Luke Dunlap, Jordan Ramsey, Grayson Atwood, all currently with the Dirtbags. This past Spring they played on the Heat 2011. That team handily beat the Dirtbag 2010 team for the (Impact) 15U World Series Championship at the USA Complex.
    These guys can play!
The 2012 guys to watch are Landon Lassiter and DC Arendes.
