    Providence 5 Butler 1

Butler loses to Providence 5-1 Friday at South Meck in the SW4A playoffs.
Butler committed 7 errors in the first 3 innings to send Providence to a 5-1 lead. Brett Austin had a 2 run homer and Mike Herbert threw a 12K gem to power Providence. Dalton Eisenbath gave up 3 earned runs and left after 3 innings on the mound to take the loss. Tommy Hibbard had a solo shot for Butler's lone run. Ryan Hodge added 2 hits. Butler's season is complete awaiting the state playoff bracket.

    A lot at stake tonight......

Looks like there are a lot of teams waiting to see what happens tonight to decide their position on Friday. Interesting matchup. Providence took the first game 9-0 and won the second 4-2.

    Myers Park vs. Providence

For those unable to attend tonight's game you missed a good one! The game started with inconsistent pitching and fielding by Myers Park spotting Providence early runs. Buttrey was not at his best, a little wild but came through when needed.

You have to take your hats off to Myers Park, they hung in there, after working Buttrey to the point of having to leave the game early and taking advantage of Dugdale.....Buttrey made two of the best plays I've seen all year from any team out in right field. 1st a diving catch and then a hit given up by Campana that looked like it was going to tie the game and Buttrey came up throwing and threw a bullet from right into the glove of Austin to end the game by throwing out the runner at home plate. WOW!! I'm not doing this justice in my description at all. Myers Park played like a group of proud warriors and came close - very close to winning.

Congratulations to the Providence players and coach Hignight; you showed why you are the class of the conference!
