From what I hear the TRI-9 is shapping up to a four-way race between Holly Springs, Fuquay, Apex and Middle Creek. I would not count out Green Hope, Lee County, and Athens Drive either. This could be the hardest year to predict which team will emerge on top. I also hear that Cary's talent is better than expected and are predicting a spot in the playoffs this year. My suprise pick is Panther Creek. I think this can be the year they make a serious challenge for post-season play.

Both Holly Springs and Middle Creek were winners in opening scrimmages today.

Boyd (MC, RHP, '12) and Rodon (HS, LHP, '11) both hit 90 or higher yesterday.

I would certainly not count Green Hope or Lee County out of that race.

GH went to Pine Forest yesterday for a 4 team round-robin with New Bern, Pinecrest, and Pine Forest. There was an hour and 15 minute time limit on the games, so each only lasted about 4 innings, but GH won all 3 of their games. GH played solid defensively with some strong pitching and some pop on the bat. They've got a lot of young guys ready to step up and lead. Should be a force to be reckoned with this year.

I heard Apex got 3 impact transfers including a bigtime LHP. Why Apex!

Manning hit two dingers for HS. I heard FV won as well.

The Tri-nine will be deep and difficult as usual.

Every time I've seen Jimmy Boyd pitch I've been impressed.

    HS pitching

If you can get past Rodon and Manning, HS pitching can be hit, gave up 11 runs in their 2nd game Saturday.

    Yesterday

Saw Wakefield and Athens play yesterday. Chris Williams threw 4 innings (?) and gave up 1 unearned run, fast ball never got a bove 83 mph but had good movement and good speed change on his off speed stuff. Snotherly got roughed up for 4 runs in the 5th, had a little trouble with control.
