The Championship starts tomorrow down in Jupiter, FL. There will be three teams representing North Carolina at this years event. The CBC O's, The Dirtbags, and The South Charlotte Panthers! Good luck to all the boys going down this weekend. Everything these teams have been working towards will finally come together for one weekend in Jupiter. It really is the Big Dawg!

For most, this will be the last big tournament with their summer and fall team. I realize we have high school ball to look forward to, but these showcase teams are unique and have their own purpose, drive, and sense of family. It really is bitter sweet. The best part is that in 2013, we can watch these boys continue to play out their dreams at the next level. Everything they've been working towards for all these years.

While I don't really look at rankings, PG has the Dirtbags ranked at #11 and the South Charlotte Panthers ranked # 13 out of the top 20 in the tournament.

I realize there are some NC boys on other teams like the Canes, but I was only looking at teams headquartered in the state. Good luck and Saaalute!

Does anyone know if these fields have stands or are they standing room only with lawn chairs. First timer to Jupiter, what about talking with coaches, are they off limits per NCAA regs or is this a different animal all together.

Very good questions. Yes, all the fields have stands---some more than others. But to tell you the truth the only time you may be sitting is during your son's game. The experience you will have will encourage you to walk around and soak in the atmosphere. When you see 100+ scouts attending one game you can't help but to meander over to check out who they are watching (I promise you it's a 1st round future draftee.)

The talent level is the best in the country, hence the amazing turnout by pro and college scouts. You will be able to spot one from another by their clothes---Pro guys will be in long pants, college guys will be in shorts.

If your son is an undergrad, you will not be allowed to speak to the college scouts. Don't be surprised if you walk up to one and he knows who you are, he will drift away--kind of hurts your feelings until you understand why.

If you have games in the front fields---I believe 1-4---you can count on having many scouts attending. But most are in golf carts so they will travel everywhere.

I spent all day and night every day at the fields---it's baseball heaven!!!!

Raising my hand to attest to this! The guy couldn't have gotten more than 4-5 hours of sleep per night. He was out there so much, I'm surprised that the groundskeepers didn't mistake him for one of them and hand him a rake!

There is seating but it is rather limited. But as Braves said - You won't be sitting down much. If you are you won't be able to see for all the people standing around you. This was without a doubt the best showcase experience I felt with my son. The Atmosphere was awesome!!! It is the Granddaddy of them all.

Have Fun and Watch out for the Golf Carts!!!! :drive:

Dirtbags lost their opener and still have to play one of the better teams in the tournament in their pool.

Of course Prepster was one of those in a chauffeur driven golf cart---while sipping on an umbrella drink. The scouts actually would come to him with updates and scores.

As a matter of fact, Braves made his now-legendary debut at the 2002 WWBA in the golf cart shown below. Just before the first pitch of each game, he'd use the cart's impressive sound system to play the South Meck Fight Song. No one down there recognized the song; but, they were extremely impressed, nonetheless!
