2012 D2 Baseball Preseason Poll

    It sure does feel like baseball weather today but we are still about 45 days away – can’t get here quick enough. The boys of summer are working hard this winter during the semester break and will be ready to hit the field come January.

    The pre-season poll has four Peach Belt Conference teams ranked led by the Francis Marion Patriots at #1. The Braves of UNC-Pembroke are next at #8 followed by Columbus State Cougars at #23 and the Armstrong Atlantic Pirates coming in at #27.

    Francis Marion, UNC-P and Armstrong Atlantic are all in the East Division of the PBC – should make for some intense games this season.

    Local teams ranked are the Mount Olive Trojans #15 and the Catawba Indians at #25.

    Great baseball in the Peach Belt to be sure!!! Can't wait for son to get there (after we enjoy the final HS season of course)

    I'm sure Mt. Olive will "reload" and have another good team, but it's going to be hard to replace both Carter Capps & Michael Knox.

    Looking forward to this matchup at Wingate on Feb 11 & 12.

    Very surprised to not see Wingate on this list. Gregory is returning a lot of guys, and several newcomers will contribute as well. Look forward to seeing the Bulldogs ranked later in the year.
