This is always a tremendous evening. Some deserving young men and women are honored for their achievements, and the net proceeds benefit charity. To echo others here, Tripp does a tremendous job with it.

...and because a high percentage of the area's baseball people turn out, it's a great way to catch up with old baseball friends and make new ones. If you can schedule it and still get tickets, I highly recommend it.

    Hot Stove Dinner

I went to my first Hot Stove Dinner last year and was totally blown away by how great of an evening it was. If you like youth and high school baseball, this is simply a night that you have to attend. I know I will continue to go every year, even after my son has finished his high school years. It is such a great time to catch up with old friends, players, and coaches. Tripp Roakes should be commended not only for putting this on every year -- but for everything else he has done to help the youth of the Charlotte community!!

    Hot Stove Dinner

I have attended two prior Hot Stove Dinners--the first year and last years. Great event and I always encourage baseball friends to attend the event. Purchased six tickets for this years already and we are set. As for the awards and the student-athletes who received them the years I attended they were right on target. The more I learned about each of the finalist in the past the more I was impressed as I made it a point congratulate each no matter the outcome. This year I am lucky to know several finalist in many different categories. Each I assure you is a fine baseball player and for the coaches nominated--all are outstanding and each should be recognized for their accomplishments on and off the field. Sure someone has been left off this list but there is always next year. Congratulations to all the finalist. It is an honor just to be considered a finalist. Well done Tripp and to your award committee. Those upset with the award finalist list take your sour grapes attitude and stay home. At your next daddy ball banquet be sure to make sure your son gets an award or a trophy.

I don't pretend to know how to put together the best list for the dinner, but questioning the credibility of Tripp Roakes is "bogus and laughable". I consider Tripp a friend and he certainly has proven himself to be a friend of baseball in this area.

Amazing how people that probably do NOTHING for local baseball (other than for their own kids to enhance their own agenda, of course) want to criticize someone that has done A TON of things to help local baseball players.

If you are going to pick someone to criticize, you'd better find someone other than Tripp....there are a number of candidates and he is nowhere near that list!

Tripp - Thanks for all you do for local players! Coach Knight

Lol...don't worry, I'm slowing down waiting for the season to begin. You have time to catch up.

Haha...yes, I remember the one you are speaking of. I should post one day all of the things that have occurred over the last 10 years that have gone on off the board (private messages,) I won't...but it could be made into a book.
