Congratulations to Kannapolis !!!!! But first & foremost we have to hand it to Rowan County. Their coaches & players are first class !!! They have the respect of our players. When you see kids like Faggart & Moore high-fiving each other between innings because one makes a great catch on the others fly ball,,,,thats respect.

Now, when you start talking about their fans,,,thats a different story !!! We know alot of the kids parents & they are class,,,,but the other group,,,they are CLASSLESS !!!! People please,,,its just a game played by kids at this age. When they start making money,,,then you can call them out by name but until then,, just pull for your team. Dont call kids out by name because they may make an error or strikeout. I heard this alot from the Rowan fans about their own kids !!!!!! Coaches I can understand. We second guess them all the time, but not the kids!!!

Last but definetly not last,,,THE UMPIRE !!!!! I have seen alot of bad umpires in my 38 years of being around sports,, but this guy takes the cake. They were talking about how bad this guy was on the Salisbury radio station,,, BEFORE the game started !!!! Saying that the kids have to go up to the plate swinging because his strike zone is so crazy. Why would the league let a guy with that type of reputation call a game as big as this one was ??? The coaches need to petition for him not to call another game the rest of this year & look at not reinstating him next year.

Thanks for letting me get on my soapbox & vent a little bit,,,,again,,,, good luck to the kids from Rowan County,,,especially the ones that are going on to the next level to play & to kids that we will see again next year.

    GO WOJANS !!!!!

Just a few things about the Kannapolis/Rowan 5-game series. First and foremost, there were 5 tremendous crowds, and yes they were loud and vocal.

Secondly congrats to the Rowan players and coaches on a fine season and an excellent series.

And thirdly, about the homeplate umpire, the only thing I will say is that in ANY game you just always hope the players get to decide the game, not the umpire.

Now its on to the 3rd round for Kannapolis (25-7) with a home game Thursday against a very good team from Kernersville. If anyone has directions for where Kernersville plays their games, I would appreciate it very much. Thanks.

    Where's the catcher box rule?

Great exciting game, but I think one thing that caused the umpire some grief was allowing the catcher to set up behind the opposite batter's box. When the Rowan pitcher hit the mit he called most of them strikes even if the ball was clearly off the plate. If the catcher had to stay behind the plate that should eliminate some of that. Strike two to Seager in the 8th inning looked like the catcher was the right handed batter (Seager is left handed).

    Gaston Braves over Burke Co.

Gaston beat Burke 8-1 last night to force a decisive game 5 tonight at SPHS. Neither team has won at home yet.

TJ, Kvile plays at East Forsyth High School (unless there has been a change). The best directions from Kannapolis are:
    ...I-85 North
    ...52 North
...In downtown Winston, get on Business 40 East (NOT I-40. Business 40 is about 3 miles farther downtown past I-40).
...Take the Linville Rd exit. It does a 180 loop. Turn Right & go back over Business 40.
...Turn right at first light (I think it's called West Mountain, but it's the first traffic light immediately across Bus 40).
...East Forsyth High is about 3 miles on the right. It sits down in a hole, but there is an entrance sign.

It should take you about 30 minutes more than going to Holt Moffit in Lexington. Carry the state title home to our League.

UK7Dook3,,,,,,, thanks so much for the directions.

Eagles1313,,,,,,, you stumped me,,,,,,, heck I've lived in Kannapolis 900 years and I can't tell you any street names. But yes we do play at A.L.Brown HS. Seating in bleachers is minimal on visitor's side, but we have hills running down each foul line which makes sitting in a lawn chair perfect. Concessions opens at 6:30 (hotdogs/hamburgers/nachos/peanuts,etc).

Ok, here goes,,,,,,,,,, from Winston, travel south on I-85 past Salisbury to the Kannapolis/Lane Street exit#63, you'll also see a Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium sign at this exit. Take a right off this exit onto Lane St and cross a lake, go approx. 2 miles and cross N.Cannon Blvd. After going thru only stoplight, you will then look for Rose Avenue where you'll turn left. Go approx. 3-4 blocks on Rose Avenue and you'll see football stadium (on your left), then turn left into parking lot immediately after tennis courts. Welcome to A.L.Brown HS...

***Rose Avenue is a very small 2 lane street that looks like its taking you into a residential area, so we'll be sure there's a Kannapolis Legion Baseball sign at this stopsign to help you see where to turn...
