....automatic that the batter take the next pitch?

I say a Big Time NO!

Even though any pitch around the dish will be called a strike, why not have your batter come out of her shoes to hit it hard?

    Thanks TBR folks

Why not wait? The worse that will happen is 3-1. So you have the same situation--it's gotta be there.

....thats my point. Why wait?!!! you know that the ball is gonna be served up like a flounder on a seafood platter, I say knock the stiches off the ball.

Why give your opponent a free ride?

If its football and its 3rd down and 15 yards for a 1st, does the defense play the run? Do they drop back for the hail mary? NO on both, they play the game. The cover the field to prevent 16 yards anything short of that is nothing.

And before ya'll wax me about strategies,.....been there done that. I'm suggesting the offense take an agressive strategy in the 3-0 count.

Fish, I agree with you on this man. See it happen all the time, hitters sitting on a 3-0 count and just take the next pitch. If the batter is in the box with a 3-0 count then she really should pull the trigger. The worse that is going to happen is she not going to make contact and then she is at 3-1 which is where she is going to be if she just takes the 4th pitch anyways. I think that a 3-0 count is just as much of a hitters count as 3-1 count. The pitcher still has to come after you to sit you down

Fishmeister... I agree. I think we teach sitting on the 3-0 when they are young because they dont have the self-control needed to NOT take a bad pitch and the odds at that age are in the batter's favor of another ball but we forget to tell them as they get older that the 4th pitch will be something to seriously consider.

    3-0 count

This is the situation to look for your favorite pitch in your favorite spot. If it is green light, if its not let it go. The worst that can happen is a 3-1 count.
