3/28/11 -- D2 poll Mt Olive #1, UNCP #12

    The Trojans of Mt. Olive take over 1st place in this week’s poll. Congrats to a NC team!!!

    The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) claimed six spots in the top 30, led by Georgia College at #5, Armstrong Atlantic at #8, UNCP follows at #12. The next three are Francis Marion at #16, Columbus State at #26 and Georgia Southwest at #30.

    There are several big Eastern Divisional games this weekend that could affect the standings as there are three teams fighting for first place. This weekend UNCP travels to Armstrong Atlantic while Francis Marion (winners of eight straight) hosts Lander.

    Another NC team, Belmont Abbey,came in at #21.

    Really pulling for a "local" team to make it to Cary this summer for the DII National Championship series.

    Coach Gantt at Catawba cracks me up. Every year he says, "Yeah, Braves, this year will be a tough one. We lost a ton of leadership and our pitching, hitting and fielding won't be as good..........." then he seems to go out every year and win the conference or be close; then they advance into the playoffs.

    Coach Gantt---the person I learned how to sandbag. He's the master!!!!! :rofl:

    Don't want to leave out ANY NC team!

    My bad & thanks for pointing this out. I am like JM15, I would love to see a NC program show up in Cary for the NCAA Championships. I am a little bias towards UNCP as my son plays there (injured this year) but I would be a proud supporter of any NC team that shows up in Cary.
