    Rankings are a mute point.

Where West Rowan is ranked at the beginning of the season is a mute point! Almost immediately, the Falcons will be able to play themselves up or down in the rankings beginning with their match-up against Eastern Wayne, March 7th @ the Impact Challenge. From there the conference match-ups with East Rowan, Mooresville, & Lake Norman will also settle the standings somewhat. Of course, the final determination will be how well they do in the playoffs.

Having seen first hand the 3A title series from 2008 i look for a rematch between ER and RM this year with the same outcome as last year.

I hope (and think) you are right, RM is very talented but they also lost alot. Leggett, Barringer, Berry and Johnson- 4 guys who were not only talented but also leaders, played the right way and just flat knew how to win.

I agree Legget had intangibles that almost willed RM through game one last year, and East also lost 5 seniors who were the heart of that team. But Goodwin is flat out the best high school player i have ever seen.

    I Don't Envision a Rocky Mount-East Rowan Rematch

Both teams are Top 10 material, but alot of obstacles lay in their path. East Rowan did lose some good players (Roland, Jarrett, & Holmes) that will be hard to replace. Rocky Mount also lost some players.4 of their top 6 hitters have graduated: Jim Leggett (.413), Chris Berry (.354), William Barrenger (.339), & Grant Johnson (.281). Rocky Mount also lost 13 victories on the mound: Leggett (8) & Berry (5). Hobbs Johnson will shore up the pitching & Brian Goodwin (.473) & Ben Fish (.402) will anchor the offense. The big question mark for Rocky Mount may be if Pat Smith can find some hitters to replace the ones he lost.

The Bullseye is still on Ragsdale!

After watching Ragsdale no-hit Northern Nash today, I'm still feeling they are the team to beat! They are fundamentally sound, patient at the plate, & have a few future college stars to boot.Heck, they even attempted to steal home today.(A play I haven't seen in a while) Teams in the West have their hands full.

Unsigned Sr. David Coffey threw a no-no today. No hits, no walks, 1 error. David had some tendenitus (sp) last year but is healthy this year and he was his old self today. Changing speeds, locating. Only needed 77 pitches. Ben Fultz hit well with a double and a triple and Kyle Brandenburg was 3-4 and hit it on the button everytime, left-handed and right-handed. Middle defense was good with Fultz and Whited. McBride hit well again also. Shame he will not bat much in college. He can really hit and is freaky fast. Northern Nash has a very good team. Coffey just had them off-balance and they had a couple of miscues at the wrong time. You could see they are a good team.

Last night Bennett Hixson only needed 68 pitches to throw a 1 hitter. 17 of 21 first pitch strikes.

Looking forward to opening conference play Tuesday with SWR at their place.
