    NE Guilford

Asheboro will have their say next vs NE. This will be 4th meeting this year. NE has won all of them but 2 have gone extra innings. Should be another good one.

Nice to have dark blue on your side

Seriously, it wasn't blue. NEG deserves all the credit. They are very strong and you cannot make six errors and expect to be in the game with them.

How is NE and Ashboro's pitching and hitting. If they have good pitching throwing in the 85 range they probably will be favored. Do they have a third pitcher? This could be the deciding factor.

    Hardy Takes Over!

North Lenoir 11 Rocky Mount 4

Chastin Radford gets the W! (3.1 innings of hitless throwing)

North Lenoir outhit Rocky Mount 14-3, which was a testament to the pitching by NL pitchers Radford & starter John Delaney, but being a glass-half-full kind of guy like I am, I was impressed by Rocky Mount sophomore pitcher Jeremy Johnson as well. Johnson battled all night, and when he finally left the game in the sixth inning, the Gryphons were only down a run, 5-4. Johnson had kept his team close, which he had to do to give his team any chance to win.
Stepping to the plate after Johnson left was Brian Hardy, who quickly took all the excitement out of the game with a booming 3-run shot over the leftfield fence. Hardy added a 2-run shot in the seventh, and ended up 3-5 for the night w/ 5 RBI's. For the year, Hardy now has 12 round-trippers, which is a NL record.
Other hitters that had good nights for NL: Mikal Batts (3 hits), Grayson Phillips (2), Radford (2), & Spencer Bass (2) North Lenoir's a pretty good hitting team.
North Lenoir (19-8) will now travel to Eastern Wayne (19-7) Tuesday night for a 4th meeting between the two ECC teams. Eastern holds a 2-1 edge between the two. Zach Mozingo, fresh off a no-hitter against Wilson Hunt, will most likely be the starter for EW. Not sure about the likely NL starter.

    Conference Rematches Tonight:

From the ECC: Eastern Wayne & North Lenoir square off for the 4th time. EW has won 2 of those games. I give Eastern Wayne the edge because of Mozingo pitching tonight, but Coach Montague over at North Lenoir has over 325 victories & 2 state titles to his credit. He's probadly got a few tricks up his sleeve. Should be a good game.

From the Mid-Piedmont: Northeast Guilford (26-1) & Asheboro (19-7) tangle for the 4th time this season w/ Northeast having won every game, but a couple were close. Huge edge goes to NE Guilford because of their pitching staff. Harrison Phillips will go tonight w/ several more waiting in relief like Matt Millaway, Caleb McCann, Jaylin Davis, Joisel Colon, and oh yea, Luis Paula. If Northeast wins, they're set up nicely for the 3-game eastern series starting Thursday. They're loaded w/ pitching!

Eastern Wayne 3 North Lenoir 1

    Zach Mozingo (9-2) gets the W! 12 K's, 6 hits.

Dante Arthur & Greg Simms had back-to-back homers in the 1st inning to provide EW w/ all the scoring they would need to win the game.

Asheboro was leading NE Guilford 3-2 in the bottom of the 4th Tuesday night when the rains came. The game will resume tonight starting at 8:00PM. Winner will have to turn right around and play tomorrow & Friday night as well. Possibly even Saturday.

Why are they waiting until 8pm to get started?

    Good Reason

It is nice to hear that school projects are actually getting higher priority than after school sporting activities. all too often that does not happen. Hats off to the decision makers in that area.
