I think TC will have some competition in the MAC to get through before moving on to the playoffs. Franklin, Tuscola and even Asheville will have strong teams. Enka has the talent if they get their coaching problems sorted out. TC Roberson is always strong, but as Yogi says, "it ain't over till it's over!"

    SW Foothills 3A:

St. Stephens, which won the conference championship in 2001 and 2002, lost key players to graduation (Shane Matthews to ECU) and will be hard pressed to repeat. Seniors Jon Michael Cadle and Drew Stanley will lead the Indians in 2003.

Hickory finished 2nd in the conference in 2002 and advanced to the 2nd round where they lost on the road at Tuscola. The Tornados return 12 players (6 starters) including All Conference performers Senior Josh Punch, Junior Wil Boyd and Junior Isaac Harrow.

Crest finished a surprising 3rd in the conference in 2002. The young Chargers were eliminated in a close opening round game to Tuscola. Crest returns the majority of the team in 2003 and should make a strong run at the conference crown.

Burns suffered a disappointing 2002 season missing the playoffs. The Bulldogs graduated a number of key players from the 2002 team. Senior centerfielder Jamie Ray and transfer Tyler Trice (UNC signee) should lead Burns' return to the top level of the conference in 2003.

RS Central and Kings Mountain suffered heavy graduations. Fred T. Foard will field a very young team that may surprise opponents in 2003.

NE Guilford should be on any and every list for 3A!

With a lineup that includes 04 Mith Atkins(rhp) 04 Justin Brown(rhp/C) both listed in Impact's Top 100 - and 05 Jeremy Synan(ss/3b) they will compete with anyone!

So who is TC's new lefty? Haven't heard a word here. We will be missing a few from last season, like Bobby Hubbard and Dan Fielder. All and all I think TC will be strong.

Enka surprised alot of people this fall and with some good coaching may just make an impact this spring.

Was told during fall league by one of our infamous league comissioners that a lefty had transferred from Erwin and was hitting upper 80's. Was I misled?

What's the outlook for JM Robinson in the SPC this season. How much of an impact is loosing Brett Clay going to be? Is he expected back anytime this season?

Do Horton and Hargrave pitch at Orange? If not I hope they have more than that to be one of the tops in all of 3A. Someone for them better pitch when they play Southern Alamance because they got a few boys that can swing the pole, namely Dave Sappelt.
