    North Davidson

I have been asleep for a few months. Any more information on the very strong team from N. Davidson? Playing some great baseball right now...as attested to by their win last night. (see below)

    WA 003 010 0.....4 5 3
    ND 260 102 X.....11 14 0

    WP - Zach White
    LP - Tyler Moore

Notes: North Davidson jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The Black Knights were led by Levi Michael (2 for 3 with a double, 1 RBI), Tyler Hanover (3 for 4 with a double, 2 RBI's), Jordan Slate (2 for 3 with 3 RBI's) and Ben Redmond (2 for 4 with a triple and 2 RBI's). Zach White picked up the win, allowing 5 hits while striking out 8, walking 2 and hitting one batter.

What a game this will be. I fully expect the ND crowd to be larger than AK's. It will feel like a home game for them. They will travel everywhere to support their team. AK fans (except parents) arrive fashionably late, if at all. This team deserves much better fan support than it gets. It's like the difference between Cameron Indoor and Deandome. The fans (except parents) give polite applause and half-hearted cheers. I don't think the students even come to the games. The ND crowd is just the opposite. They will come early, be loud, rowdy and cheer every play as if it's the game winner. If the game was based on fan support, ND will win by mercy rule. Fortunately, it won't.

Now, the teams will be stoked. ND has the best middle infield in the state (Michael and Hanover). Their catcher, Redmond, is one of the best you will see. They can hit top to bottom and with Zach White on the mound they field the best team in the state.

But, White won't be on the mound and Jordan Darnell will. Next to Messer, Darnell is the most competitive player I have seen. The kid is a bulldog. He just keeps coming and coming until finally someone tells him "Hey Jordan...the game is over!". AK is an interesting team. Most teams get down when they get behind, not AK. They seem to not feel comfortable unless they spot the other team 4-5 runs. They never panic and have always found ways to get back into the game. All 4 losses were last at bats.

Jordan Darnell is a special player and these are the type games that one can remember long after they graduate. I hope the AK fans come out to witness the most important game in their short history. The team could use the support.

    SW #4 Providence 20-8
    NW #1 South Caldwell 24-1

Wow...an encore. South Caldwell is hard enough to beat anywhere, but at home? Cody Penny has pitched outstanding this year and has proved to be "next in line" to follow Bumgarner's and Messer's shoes...and Cody Poarch, the other CP squared, is ready and chomping at the bit to show off his skills. Sawmills will be rockin' and the alumni will be back in town. The Spartans are ready to send a message that they can beat anyone and their record is legit.

On the other hand you have a Providence team that will remind the Spartans of last year's North Davidson team. These young guys can play....and play with style. Every player is a potential all conference player. Even though their hitting this year has been inconsistent, most of that is related to them seeing the Ace in every single game. These guys never get a break. They will always see the other team's Top Pitcher. They never beat themselves...you have to beat them. When they get on base (and they will do anything to do so), they are aggressive and put pressure on one's defense.

I really believe if SC plays their normal game, they will win, but if they are sloppy on defense...watch out...Providence will take, steal, rob and earn the win.

Two great games played on the same night.........a travesty for those that would like to see both.

    Providence in Purple

Bravesy, WOW! This is the most controversial I've ever seen you be on TBR!!! But you are correct. AK is just Providence in Purple. The kids from the suburbs have better things to do. Like go to the mall or starbucks. Dude, I mean really? Baseball? Outside? Like, I haven't even been to that part of the campus yet. Seriously, Really? Dude, like you're kidding right? Seriously? OH MY GAWD, Baseball? So uncool. Sit on metal bleachers? Gross......me......out!!!

2800 kids at Providence and 30 or so make it to the HOME games. 1600 kids at AK and (maybe) 20 or 30 of them will be there Tuesday night.

"Like, do they serve wine at the games?"

    "Dude, aren't the seats cushioned?"

"Like, the games last so long"

"okay, I'll come for awhile, but I've got a party later"

Ummm..AGYN, you must not have been here last year when I did this with AC vs Butler. They still have my picture in the Post Office in Taylorsville "shoot on sight" :scared:

Braves, funny you bring up the support at AK. You are a little over the top, but pretty close in your comments regarding support. AK has a loyal yet quiet fan base incl students and parents. I'm not sure the school supports the team the way they would support the football team if they were one game away from playing for the West championship. In defense of AK I will say they had softball, soccer and track going deep in the playoffs pulling support in many different directions, but if the school cant get behind the team Tues making ND fans the minority to watch this game something just isnt right.

    That's being charitable...

"over the top?"...Me?...nah. But I'll be slumming over to Knights Kastle looking for my PSL seating, while the students have to decide whether to go to the game and like chill for a couple of innings multi-tasking (one hand on their new Ipod while the other is texting the after party) or...........just not come at all. The worst student support I have ever seen from a playoff team.

Better get there early or all the ND fans will have the seats.
