    All seven teams in the Northwestern 4-A are in, either as seeded teams or playoffs. Two of the first round matchups pit NW4A teams against each other (Freedom/South Caldwell and Alexander Central/McDowell).

    Question??

    Can anyone from the MECA 7 answer the question....did West Charlotte or Vance even have a team this season?? I thought I read somewhere that those two teams folded and did not compete....

    if so, did Mallard Creek get into the playoffs on a 5-9 record with 4 forfeit wins and a win over Berry Academy???

    Just curious!

    MECA 7

    West Charlotte fielded a competitive team in softball for the entire season. Hopewell just played them in a double header a little over a week ago.

    Vance had a team for the first half of the season, and then had enough girls quit the team, that they did not have enough to play anymore, and thus they had to forfeit several games during the second half of conference play.
