    American Legion Area Finals (SCORES)

    Pineville 4
    Caldwell County 2

    WP: Andress (CG)
    LP: Baumgardner

Pitchers duel throughout, but Pineville plated 3 in the bottom of the fifth to take a 3-1 lead they never gave up. The teams traded runs in the later innings and Caldwell made it exciting by getting two on with two outs inthe ninth, but Andress struck out the last batter on a checked swing.

    Advantage: Pineville 1-0

To open the Area 1 Finals, Garner went on the road and came away with a 6-4 WIN down in Greenville.

    Garner Post 232 - 6
    Pitt County Post 39 - 4

Garner leads Area 1 Finals, 1-0.

    Congratulations Post 232

**By the way, congrats to the pitcher from Pineville on the complete game. It was hot out there tonight and nine innings is a long time (especially with these metal bats). He may not treasure it now, but let me tell you... a complete game playoff win in legion ball is a huge accomplishment, congrats.

Actually this has worked to our advantage. They threw their best at us & we went 1-1 against them. Now we have Ketner back for game 4 with 4 days rest. I'll take those odds everyday !!! We need to win this one tonite. That would mean that we will have Garret & Blake ready for the 1st two games @ the state. But we have to take care of business first !!!

Great game by Brian Little last nite. He has come into some big situations & done the job for us. Also, have to give credit to Max Morales for coming in also & getting the saves.
