C'mon guys. When will an eastern team get any respect on here? :helpsmilie: NL has won the 2A State Title 2 years in a row with the same pitching staff that takes the mound this year for them. They have to be the "favorites". I'm sure ER is very tough, but it is hard to take someone over a proven pitching staff with 2 state championships the last 2 years under their belts. I'd like to see this match up happen for the State Championship. It would be a great one. ER is loaded and very tough, but you have to like the championship experience the NL team brings. NL plays Whiteville this weekend... Who does ER have?

NL has won their first 4 playoff games by a 34-1 margin.

gets a ton of respect and they should. Sowers Sutton Alphine thats a great pitching staff. But they are not the favorites. There is not a better pitching staff in the state regardless of classification than ER's. Leach UNC Smith UNCW and Park who along with Messer from SC is the top 08 pitcher in the state bar none. Not to mention that they have some of the top posistion players in the state on that team. NL is outstanding and they have had a great run. ER is the favorite to win the state title. They would be the favorite if they were a 3A or 4A team imo.

    ER vs NL

East Rutherford vs North Lenoir would be a great matchup of the past 5 State Champions from 2A. Everyone has their opinion on who will win, but I believe it will be great baseball if it happens. Hopefully both teams can get past the semi's, you never know.

    CB Aycock-5
    Northern Nash-2
I had Northern picked for game 1, but Aycock had other ideas.

I'm going to be out of town all weekend, but good luck to those still playing. I have a cousin playing in the 4A Softball playoffs tonight.

Hopefully we will get to see that NL-ER showdown.
