Courage is FEAR, that said it's PRAYERS.
The Asheville paper was a halftime score, no final has been posted.

I had forgotten how long a drive that was down to Anson, and when you lose it's twice as long back. I just got back in.

Congrats to the Bearcats, they were ready to play. The WONDERS got down 28-0 early in the third, and had to fight their way back into. We gave up a couple of quick scores on an interception and a fumble, both of which were run back for scores.

We couldn't do much offensively or defensively in the first half, much of that due to the Bearcats.

But I give hats off to the WONDERS and their coaching staff. We made a game out of it. We just ran out of time.

Thanks for the compliment...a busy overnight for me getting stats compiled. The score ended up 23-6 Titans. All in all a good win for us tonight. With the long distance travel and all you never know how a young team may react to it. I thought the McDowell defense did a pretty darn good job holding off the triple option attack of Surry Central. Our offense had good drives that stalled due to penalties. That in itself kept the game close till the 4th quarter. With it 10-6 half way through the 4th the Titans broke it open. Linebacker Ryan Stubbs recovered a fumble and ran it back 30-yards for a score. We then added an insurance score to make the final margin much wider.

Van and I were talking on radio, it's been about 6 years since McDowell has had a 3 win-season. I know that does not sound like much to most folks, but there are a lot of ans who are happy with what is going on at this point. Conference play begins next week, I think the final year of the NW4A may provide some really exciting moments.

Actually, it's not been that long ago since we had a three-win season. We've actually had 4 three-win seasons in the past few years (2002, 2003, 2005, & 2006, with a 1-10 record sandwiched in there from 2004). The best record McDowell has had in the past 10 years was in 2001, when they posted a 7-5 record, going 5-1 in NW4A play.

But for McDowell to be 3-2 right now is a great position. We could have been 4-1, but I'll take 3-2 anyday & twice on Sundays. Coach Gowan and staff have done a tremendous job so far and hopefully good things are still in store for the team in conference action.

    Trojans drop first GNRC game.....ever

The Trojans are unable to contain Wildcat running back CJ Frederick, who runs for 224 yards and all three scores in the 20-13 win in front of an overflow home crowd at West Johnston. The loss is the Trojans (2-3) first GNRC loss ever and first conference loss since 2004.

Frederick leads a potent Wildcat running attack who compile 291 yards while holding the Trojans to just 91.

The Trojan broadcast team expresses a tremendous thank you to the West Johnston press box crew for their hospitality and accomodations to our crew.
