I miss some of the grandparents of the players my son played with. Some would make the drive to Concord and other local ball ields to see their grandson play. Some even traveled to Fl, Iowa and other venues. I see some them at HS games. It great to see them. That's my vote!!!

My vote goes to Mark Tarleton. This is one of the best people I have ever met in my life. His love for the game of baseball is unlike any other I have ever seen before. He knows the game of baseball and he can teach any kid to learn how to play it but also become a better person in the process. I miss seeing Mark at my practices in HS and the attitude he brought with him. He would always be there to remind how you could have done something better but also pick you up when you needed the most.

    Thats a great post LClefty04

I dont know him but I have heard alot about him from some of my friends who do. They all have great things to say about Coach Tarleton. Its sounds like to me he is one heck of a coach and person. Thanks for sharing that and I hope he sees it. Im sure he will appreciate knowing that his efforts made a difference.

I have spent many a post kidding Mark Tarleton, but that's because he has a great sense of humor. However, I want everyone to know that Mark is one of the best people I have ever known. Whomever is greeted by Mark will leave a better person. He is an outstanding coach, a better man and a wonderful father and husband.

It's been my honor to call him my friend

But to call him a character in baseball? Nope...that honor goes to Dallas Tarleton's grandfather. He is a baseball gem of a fan. I'm sure going to miss them this year.

    Its Crazy

Sometimes Im glad its one of the other kids who is pitching and not mine. I don't like thinking this way. Its just that is agonizing when yours has the rock. Yeah I think Ill just head off to the RF line for now on. Maybe even stay beyond OF fence.

i think i mentioned him in another thread. one of the ultimates has to be dj mitchell's grand dad. i have never seen or heard a more energetic fan of the game. you can hear him all over the stadium (no matter how big or small it is). he is always pulling for dj and his teammates. never a negative comment out of his mouth, and will even applaude good plays by the opponents. he gets my vote:52:

i would also have to recognize my mom who was at every ball game i played or coached in for 41 years. she always kept the score on a little notebook. after she died this past january we were cleaning out her house and i ran across those little notebooks with the score in them from 1967 and up.

My dad never missed a game as well that I coached. He was our biggest fan. When my youngest son was around 9 he got sick and was not able to see all the games he played in. He loved to watch him play. He was a tremendous "trash talker" from the stands! He hammered the umpires and just loved to be at the games. I had some talks with him but there was no stopping him from doing his thing. There is not a game that my son plays in I dont think about my dad and wish he could see him play.

Wow...those are two of the most heartfelt posts I have read here in some time. I appreciate you guys honoring your parents like this. Thanks guys for sharing.

...and catamount? What great memories those notebooks hold. They will bring back events that will seem like yesterday

He's the only fan I've ever seen try to catch a foul ball with his teeth!
I'm sure he would have pulled it off if he hadn't been distracted... talking maybe?
