I have 2 sons who have played ball at the highest level up to 18 years of age. And I have a few suggestions, mainly to coaches (at the "highest levels"). I will not memtion team names because clearly the denials will overwhelm us. Suffice it to say the teams represented in my comments are limited to those repeatedly mentioned in a recent "longest thread". Not all, but most.

First, disallow cell phones during the game. The texting in the dugout dishonors the game.
Second: Head coaches need to clean up their mouths especially when correcting, and addressing individual players in public.
Head coaches and their assistants need to refrain from discussing their sexual conquests in front of players.
    Men, you can do better.

    thanks for listening,

I would think most "good" coaches wouldn't allow cell phones to be used at all during games in the dugouts.

    forget the dugout

local below average high school team had a centerfielder texting while in the field last year, needless to say their coach will never be coach of the year. :31:

if a kid is texting during the game he might as well explain why he is sitting on the bench so i wont have to after the game!

You never told me about that one! Is this the same coach who doesn't know the difference between a hit and a fielder's choice?

Babe Ruth rules do not allow any communication device on the field. If there is the coach, player, or whoever is ejected from the game. Saw it happen in a game last season. But I also had an umpire giving me updates from his blackberry on Halladays no hitter during one of our games this past season. I jokingly asked him about in between innings and he said it only applied to players and coaches. I am surprised most groups don't have a similar rule.
