This is a sad week for Pineville Post 337. Sam Long, long-time Post Commander of Pineville Post 337 has died. Without Sam, the Pineville baseball program would have never existed. Although his health prevented him from attending games as he had wished, his desire to provide the opportunity of American Legion baseball to our young men was always a passion of his. He will be truly missed. American Legion Baseball was his love, his passion and his opportunity to give something to so many young men that truly embodies the spirit of this great nation. Please remember his family in your prayers.

Visitation will be Friday July 9, 2010, 11:00 am at Peeples - Rhoden Funeral Home, 300 Mulberry St West, Hampton, SC. Burial will be at 1:00 PM at the Hampton Cemetary, Hampton, SC.

On Saturday July 10, 2010, A Celebration Of Sam's Life will be held from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at The Hut, 413 Johnston Dr. Pineville, NC.

Obituary will be in Thursday July 8, 2010, Charlotte Observer.
