    Senior Katy Hackett and sophomore Kalie Lang received Atlantic 10 Pitcher and Rookie of the Week honors, respecvitely, on Monday





    CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Senior Katy Hackett and sophomore Kalie Lang earned Atlantic 10 Pitcher and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, for the Charlotte softball team, the conference announced on Monday, after the Niners won the Green and White Tournament last weekend at the D.L. Phillips Complex.
    Hackett captured Most Valuable Pitcher of the Green and White Tournament over the weekend. The Dacula, Ga., product went 3-1 with a 0.53 ERA in four starts and five appearance in the tournament. She pitched complete game shutouts over Seton Hall twice and Robert Morris in the Championship Game to lead Charlotte to the title. Hackett gave up three runs, two earned, and 16 hits over 26 1/3 innings, while striking out 27.
    Lang, a first-year transfer from Northwest Florida State College, went 8-14 with three doubles and two home runs while driving in nine over the five games to receive the Most Valuable Player award of the tournament. Lang belted an inside the park home run against the Pirates in the semifinals to lead Charlotte to an 8-0 mercy rule decision over Seton Hall. The Ardrey Kell alum also drove in two runs in the Championship Game.

    so its ok to give props to college fields but not ok on occasion to give props to a nc native that went to a small program in florida then came back close to her hometown and was a standout for the weekend at a stellar program like charlotte! Play by your own rules

    college player = next level. simple concept. leaving the fields there was not my call.
