I caught the last quarter on the radio, sounds like AC put up a good fight but just came up short!

AC was stopped just before halftime on the 1" line on fourth down. Had a TD run called back in the 3 rd (holding penalty). AC had their chances. EB ate up alot of yards on the ground, however had 3 fumble. Very good game to watch. AC had the ball under 5 minutes to go with a chance to score but turned it over on down.

If you break down the 2 halfs alexender had maybe 3 rushes in the first half and tried to force the pass(many times not even having a back in the backfield). And they were outscored 14-0 altho IMO the were robbed of a score at the goal line.

In the 2nd half the ran ran ran had chapman and bradshaw in the backfield at the sametime and just ran over the eb defense. Then guess what? Play action deep to fisher for ab 40 yards. And bradshaw caps the drive with a score. The Ac defense didnt allow eb to move the ball really at all in the 2nd half and also shut down shatley(who had only 50 yars)AC played its best half of football all year in the 2nd half on both sides and had the cougars played the first half like this they win and dont allow it to be close enough for the refs to control the outcome.

They took 2 tds from ac while setting up ebs on offensive td on what was most liklely the worst pass interference call i have ever seen. And on the cougars last drive of the game a 2nd and 2 was turned into a 2nd and 18 by a very questionable holding call. So for all of you that said it wouldnt be close you were wrong and should feel very fortunate to get credit with a win. The calls were horrible and always went against ac.

As bad as the calls were tho it really goes back to the 1st half and the cougars once again trying to force the pass and only having 3 rush attempts. The cougars ground game is what makes this team go maybe the OC figured that out friday night in the 2nd half.

Alexander played its best football last night IMHO. However COUGAR mistakes made them come up shorts not the referees. Although it is werid that on a sweep play to chapman that he just so happens to score on they throw a backside holding penalty after chapman was 10-15 yards away from the play. Kudos to the alexander D for shutting EB down to only 7 points (who is a team who scored 41 points all on the ground against ACR). These boys are blooming at the right time they've just gotta find ways to win. So much for a blowout, Huh?

I was at the Freedom-Reynolds game and turned my radio and only hear 1 play. It was 4th and goal from the 1 for AC at the end of the first half.Tsdfhe announcers said that he's in... no signal yet but he's definitely in. first down EB on the 1, I don't get it he was definitely in. assume these were EB announcers saying this because it was on 92.1 fm.

Just because its on 92.1 FM doesnt mean they are East Burke announcers. WMNC-FM used to be an all Freedom station until the new schools in Burke County opened. Now, friday night football on "The Big Dawg" is more of a Burke County Game of The Week concept instead of coverage for one school.

East Burke has its own station, WSVM-AM (1490).

Alexander Central really deserved a better fate than a 14-7 loss to East Burke. They held them to less than 50 yards offense in the 2nd half. Shatley was a complete non factor. It really looked like Kinnaird was in the end zone on that play at the end of the first half. The drive that East Burke scored their only td had two interesting calls go against the Cougars. The pass interference was really, really, really, a bad call. On the same drive East Burke broke the huddle with 12 men. The player in question tried to run off the field and did not make it, the refs missed the same call twice on the same play. I like the two back formation the Cougars used in the 2nd half, look for it a lot the rest of the year. This is a pretty good football team that's got to learn to win which is not an easy thing to learn sometimes. I look at this team and I see that the results are not there and that's a shame. The bye week will determine which way it goes the rest of the year. If they bounce back the way I think, they will win their last 3 games. Bottom line the Cougars have been a little unlucky a few times this year but I have always thought and still do believe that you can make you own luck.
