According to this weeks Taylorsville Times, ACHS Girls coach C. Whittington has resigned..Only winning 1 conference game in 3 years makes me wonder if she really was asked to step down, much like Boone was last year and then it is made to look like a resignation?? Or did she step dpwn because she is still furious over being overlooked 3 years ago when she wasnt selected to be Athletic Director??

From what I understood she had the support of both the school board chairman and the pricipal, so who knows. I honestly believe she is a knowledgable coach but I think some personal issues the last year or so took something out of her......almost like she had to prove that what she was doing was right and nobody could tell her otherwise and from what I understand there were those trying to offer suggestions and encouraging criticism but it was thrown back into their faces as an attack on her judgement.....sorry, but sometimes the personal runs over into the professional and bad decisions are bad decisions.
I really hope that the school can find someone that will come in and be able to work in the difficult environment that is prevalent in the county and can get through the apathy and lack of concern for the sport here.
For those that returning or moving up into the program I wish the best.

Coaching school ball in Alexander County has to be the hardest coaching job there is in the world. Don't know why but something controversial always going on there in some sport. From what I know there is a ton of politics and some really strong parental opinions at AC. I would like to see one year where there weren't any coaching problems here but I don't think that will ever happen with the people that are here now in and out of the school system

    first hand knowledge

well i have lived here my whole life.. being a boy who played rec sports since i was able and for jr high and high school.. ive seen the politics work here.. its sad condition because coaches say they dont do it but they do and ive seen it and it comes down to alot of times on who ur mom and dad are and if they are important in the county or community or the booster clubs.. just cause a kids parents may not have the money to dish out left and right doesnt mean they cant do something... thats the problem with alot of thigns.. and likes already been said about the personal riding into professional.. but i heard that ya know she was wanting to be somethin in administration and thats what led her to make that decision so that she could concentrate on that but who knows.. im gonna go to college.. get teachin degree and gonna coach somewhere around here... maybe one day back here at ac cause that would be awesome.. theres problems everywhere but the problem here is when coaches say that politics dont determine things and then u see them turn right around and do it
