I've been waiting on this announcement. One of my all time favorite players to watch. If you want to see how to play baseball the right way, check out Cody Shelton. The young man is always hustling on and off the field. I've got to tell the one story:

I was coaching a team at a showcase camp. After the 2nd game was played I noticed my catcher was getting a little tired, so I asked if anyone wanted to catch---Cody said, "I can coach!"...so I let him catch (don't think he ever caught before.) and played the position nicely- may have thrown out a runner...later on in the game I needed an OF'er; I asked, "anyone play outfield?"....Cody raised his hand and said, "I can" (don't think he ever played OF), then proceeded to showcase his strong arm holding a runner at first. The last inning, I ran out of pitchers. I asked any of the position guys if they wanted to throw an inning---you guessed it; Cody raised his hand. I said, "sorry kid, I'm looking for someone who has pitched before." He said, 'Coach, I can pitch (I found out later it was in LL.)", and the kid mowed them down 1-2-3

The point of telling this story is the kid just wanted to play. He didn't care where; he just wanted to be in the game. That's the kind of kid he is.

Congrats Cody....you'll look good as a Bulldog. I know everyone on campus is excited!

Cody comes from a terrific family and I'm excited to be able to see his parents, Terry and Linda, on the Wingate campus, as well. I told you Linda, after meeting Oz, you will be "swooned." :FOFRBanana0518HL:
