#28 is Derek Swilley. He lives in Lexington with his Dad (who owns the GMC dealership). Derek was a Freshman this past season at Central Connecticutt (a D1 school). Started part time.

That play that Derek made on the squeeze (fielding & throwing the ball with his glove) to nail DJ Mitchell (6.7 speed in the 60) was one of the most awesome plays I have ever witnessed. I thought the game was over when the bunt hit the ground.

Thanks, I'll put Derek's name in the descriptions of his pictures.

I agree with you about the play Derek made on the bunt. Great play. If he doesn't sweep the ball perfectly to the catcher DJ scores and the game's over. I wish I had a picture of it.

I just came from "Bizarro World"...

    Game 2 Lexington 11 Winston 10

Winston was leading 10-0 with 2 outs in the bottom of 7th...2 strike count...and Lexington scratched to extend the game. From there it just got ridiculous.

Winston deserved to win because they outplayed Lexington. But aluminum bats + Lady Luck + some clutch hitting = one of those games that are unexplainable & that you feel like you ought to apologize for.

Series is far from over. Lexington is pitching short because #2 ace Andrew Hunt will be having ACL surgery Tuesday. This is a 5 year old injury (complete tear) that doctors wouldn't fix until he matured. He has to go through with it so he will be ready for his Senior high school season. 6 month recovery time for a pitcher.

    Unbelievable.

I would say that W-S outplayed Lexington for 6 2/3 innings and 2 strikes. After that it was all Lexington. You really have to tip your hat to any team that does not give up, even when they are down by 10 runs and are literally down to their last pitch.

I also admired the comments of Head Coach Matt Griffin to his players earlier in the game when W-S was beating their brains out - all positive. Keep playing. Keep hustling. Give credit to W-S if they've made a great play, but keep trying. His attitude definitely was correct for the situation they were in, and it paid off in the end.

Jay Laramore pitched a fantastic game for the Warriors tonight for those 6 2/3 innings giving up no runs on only a couple of hits. He also hit a 2-run homerun during the game and just missed a 2nd homerun as his ball hit the very top of the fence in left-center and bounced back onto the field.

I swear, no matter how many baseball games you attend, you're bound to see something you've never seen before in every game. I hope I get to see the W-S team come back from 10 runs down to win tomorrow! Go Warriors!

Down 7-2 in the 5th inning, the Warriors came back to win the game 10-9 in the bottom of the 11th inning. Michael Wall scored the winning run from first base when Stephen Andrews' bunt was thrown past the first baseman into foul territory down the rightfield line.
