I play for Post 82. I hope that Garner makes it to the State Championships in Cherryville. I have no respect for there program and would love to put them out in the States. We as Shelby have alot of rivalries but none of them even come close to the one we now have with Garner. Yall better bring somethin better than that game yall brought us last time. Hope to see yall there.

I don't play with Post 232 in Garner, but I do take it personal. Good luck to ya'll. I love a good legion match-up and Garner-Shelby has sure turned into one.

Pitt County is very good, but hopefully Garner can overcome them. :bananalam

After a little research - looks like Morehead City and Laurinburg will be Area II's reps to the State Tourney.

    Doubleheader brings close shaves
    By Craig Ramey

    NEWS-TIMES

MOREHEAD CITY — A doubleheader between Morehead City and Scotland County left the playing field even for both teams Wednesday as the American Legion playoff series got off to a 1-1 start.

Scotland County Post 50 took the first game 4-3 and Morehead City Post 46 the second 6-3. The best-of-five series will only determine seeding for the American Legion State Playoffs, an event both teams are guaranteed to attend July 29-31.

"We’re going to the state tournament," said Post 46 coach Robby Lasater. "I want to get there and have some fun. I heard they treat you really well … like major leaguers. I want these guys to experience that. I’ve played in front of 10,000 people, but they don’t know what that’s like. The butterflies in your stomach when you’re not supposed to have them, that’s when you turn it up a notch."

But the trip to the big dance is not coming without a price to Lasater and assistant coach Michael Turner. The pair told team members that if they advanced to the state tournament, they would have their heads shaved. The Hurricanes saw to it after Wednesday’s doubleheader that the promise was honored as Post 46’s Trent Brooks became the team’s official barber, breaking out the clippers for a little "hair raising" in the dugout.
