Alex Askey of the 2009 On Deck O's and Providence High School Panthers has committed to sign with Lenoir-Rhyne. The senior infielder/pitcher is a phenomenal student at PHS and is regarded as the ultimate teammate by his peers. Askey works extremely hard and possesses the ability to play all infield positions, while also being extremely effective on the mound. As a RHP, Askey demonstrates solid command of four pitches and competes down in the zone consistently. Askey is the 13th player from the 2009 On Deck O's team to sign with a college program and the 115th On Deck O's player to be offered an opportunity to play at the next level since 2002.

Congratulations to Alex! You will not find a more outstanding young man anywhere and LR is lucky to have him.

    Congrats

Congratulations Alex. It is said over and over in these posts, but he is a great teammate, student, athlete, and I have no doubt will make LR better when he walks on the campus.

    About Time

Happy to see Alex get his props and the opportunity to play at the next level. Alex is a kid that would be an everyday player on any other SW4A team except for some reason Providence. Nice to see LR sign a diamond in the rough. Great kid, great teammate, great student and plays the game with class - good things can happen to good people.
