    ELON --
The Elon University women’s basketball team got off to a 2-0 start over the weekend at the Phoenix Classic tip-off event the school hosts, and Freedom High alum Ali Ford was named All-Tournament as well as being a preseason All-conference player.
The Phoenix downed Fordham, 91-77, last Friday, before handling Troy by an 83-52 count on Sunday.
Last year’s SoCon Rookie of the Year and first-team all conference selection, Ford poured in 41 points over the two contests and drained seven 3-pointers along the way.
Ford's roomate Kelsey Evans was named MVP of the tourney after averaging 15.5 points and 9.0 rebounds, while recording six blocks.
Elon is back in action at Virginia Tech on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

    Elon at VT

BLACKSBURG, Va. – A late 14-7 run over the final 2:51 of the game proved to be too much for the Elon University women’s basketball team to overcome on Thursday night, Nov. 18, as the Virginia Tech Hokies came back from 10-points down in the second half to top the Elon Phoenix, 73-66, at Cassell Coliseum.

Former Freedom Patriot and now Sophomore guard for ELON Ali Ford led all players with 22 points in the loss.

Elon's next game is a home contest on Sunday vs. Coastal Carolina.

Wow, it's great to hear Ali is doing so well. She was a lot of fun to watch back in the Freedom days. A darn good softball player to boot. Congrats!

Ford Sparks Elon’s Climbs to Top of SoCon

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - A near double-double from sophomore guard Ali Ford lifted the Elon University women's basketball team to its sixth straight Southern Conference win on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 16, as the Phoenix claimed a 64-47 win over the Wofford Terriers. The former Freedom Patriot star scored a game-high 17 points including 6-of-6 shooting from the free throw line. Ford grabbed a career-high eight rebounds in the win as well, while tallying four steals. The Phoenix began the season with 2 conference losses but since have reeled off 6 wins in a row to find themselves in first place nearing mid season. Ford reaches 1000 pts as a sophmore

    CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --
Morganton native Ali Ford cracked the 1,000-point mark for her collegiate career in style Saturday, scoring a game-high 25 points as her Elon Lady Phoenix downed Furman 69-61 in the Southern Conference tournament quarterfinals at McKenzie Arena. Ford went 6 for 10 from the three point line and added 7 freethrows.
Ford, a Freedom High graduate, now has 1,001 points in less than two full seasons, becoming the first SoCon sophomore in eight years to eclipse that scoring milestone, and only the 3rd sophmore in ELON school history to reach 1000, the last being in 1981.
Ford was also named All-Conference for the 2nd straight year in a press release last week.
