Can someone please explain to me how All Conference Players are selected? Shouldn't players be chosen on good character traits and actions as well as athletic ability. Aren't school athletes suppose to be good role models? How is it possible that a player can be suspended from school for part of the season for fighting and still be selected as an All Conference Player? Please let's leave the politics in Washington. Comments welcome...

    I'll bet this gets ugly.

Let's play make believe for a moment. Suppose you have a player like Josh Hamilton, for example, when he was at Athens Drive. Suppose he got in a fight and was suspended. Would that make him ineligible for all-conference?

I guess it depends on what the team rules are. Some teams have rules that if you are suspended you're off the team. Circumstances may also be considered as to what was involved in the suspension.

    My understanding is . . .

the procedures for selection are left up the conference. However, most use a vote of the coaches and many couple this with some quota slots allotting more spots to teams that finish higher. I doubt character has much to do with. How would coaches in Wilmington know anything about the character of a kid in Greenville? Unless a kid acts like an idiot on the field it probably comes down to a statistics battle.
