My DD made it, on her own, as did most others, without all the BS mention in these threads.
Way to go Steph, Kayla & Kendall District 7 3A All-District. Congrats to all this is a special honor!!!!!!!!

    Slack Coaching

It seems to me as hard as these girls play you would think that more than
2 Coaches in the 3A District 7 would take the time to send in some of there players but I guess not huh??????

I think you have to be a member of the coach's association, and it cost $40.00, right Pop? Some coaches don't see the need to participate, therefore their players get shortchanged. I wonder if any football coaches skip these types of things?

Eyes are opening all the time. Everytime somebody asks why so and so didn't happen, people start to notice the reason. More and more people are starting to care! Some of these coaches will be the last to know what happened. Heck, they probably don't even know about TBR.

I may be wrong, but I believe any high school coach could nominate kids this year without being a member of the association. All high schools were sent a letter with a form for All-District. Some coaches may not have recevied it due to mail handling. We need to do better in rewarding our kids, if you are a fan or parent and your team didn't have anyone nominated, talk with your coach or AD. See what the problem is, I pay the coaches association fee out of my pocket and it's well worth it. My wife pays 10 bucks for basketball and they don't do anything for the kids or teams.

Good luck to all this weekend at the 1st ever State Games.....

    Any High School Coach

may nominate their players for consideration for the All-District teams. You do not have to be a member of the NCFSCA to nominate players. Players from non-members are given the same consideration and are voted on by committees from within the District. Each district has a District chairperson that was in charge of producing a selection committeee. They took all the nominations, from everyone, sat down as a group and selected the teams. If there was no nomination, there was no chance. The District chairpersons penned a letter to each coach in their district explaining the process. The process is outlined on the Association website www.ncfastpitch.org and was for a good while leading up to the submission deadline. CFball said it one of his posts, coaches need to understand the process, whether you are a member of the Association or not. We have tried many different methods to get all coaches involved. One of those is me posting on TBR and NCpreps everytime something is being done by the NCFSCA. Not to mention the letters that are sent by the chairpersons to each coach at each school. We welcome more coaches to our membership and yes it is $40.00 to be a member. In the next few weeks, 4 scholarships of $250.00 each will be awarded to deserving young ladies whose coaches took the time to nominate them. Just an example of where some of the membership money is going. Membership is our only means of making any money. The more memberships, the higher the scholarship awards. Our Association is here to promote Softball and the girls. Has been our number one goal since we began. We have taken a good bit of flack about this and that, but that is ok. We are going to continue to promote our sport. I would ask that the TBR membership gently remind their coaches of our Association and the opportunities that are available for the girls from the NCFSCA. Don't let your high school coach say he/she knew nothing about what is going on with the NCFSCA any longer. Nudge them in our direction. They do not have to join the Association, but I would be more than glad to tell them individually everything they need to know to promote their players. Not knowing should never be an excuse again. Thank You!

Pop deserves nothing but a big thank you for all he does. If someone's DD wasn't nominated then the issue is with lazy coaches and AD's and BELIEVE me there are plenty of them out there. If politics exist for some TBR posters then it exists with your coaching staff... not with Pop Rivers or anyone else belonging to the coaching association. I have been on the inside and I can tell you it isnt pretty unless you have a coach who understands and believes in doing anything he can to help his kids with their dreams. There are a few out there. Derrick Hill form East Surry is the best example in our conference. The guy runs a program that competes for a state championship every year but more importantly he would walk on broken glass to make sure his players who deserve it are recognized for their achievements. Unfortunately, there aren't many Derrick Hills out there. Keep the hard work Coach Rivers...

    players and support units...

passing along information, asking questions, educating oneself to the process and a little Nudge will make a difference, not to mention Pops insight. Thanks and i hope most here will embrace this and success will follow those who strive for it!

    Kendayl Waugh

Thanks Pop Rivers for the help in getting these high school kids an oppurtunity to showcase and make friends from across the state. Kendayl was so excited at the chance to be able to play for Region 7 and Coach Thad Fox today. Unfortunately she has some problems this week with low blood counts. She will not be able to attend any games this weekend at Greensboro or at Burlington with the Cobras. For all that can make it though, she is giving her testimony Sunday at 10:00AM at the Pride Showcase. For all who miss church, the ASA is providing a time slot on Sunday mornings for a short time of worship. Thanks Jack Thomas. She had her last chemo treatment Tuesday.
